to reply to DeceiverX,

I would just like to add that, some people are built, naturally, to be bigger. No matter how much exercise you do. People’s bodies function differently, and the way our bodies store fat differ from person to person. Like… just because you do a ton of exercise, it doesn’t mean that you’ll have a flat stomach or that you’ll have a six-pack.

Honestly, having literally -everyone- be restricted to different kinds of flat stomachs and six-packs -is- what’s unrealistic. I don’t know if you’ve gone outside much, but people vary, a lot, in shapes and sizes. Even when you go to the gym, the place where people do exercises, and the cardio you’ve been raving about… the people who go there, their bodies are going to be different from one another.

If we were to drop that label you aren’t particularly fond of, it’s still pretty much a thing. People default to thinking that people with a bit more weight on them are unhealthy, and lots of people would just bombard them with “tips” so that they’d look less like they look now. I know this firsthand. I would like to ask you not to treat the word ‘fatphobe’ as meaning, literally, being afraid of fat people. You know better than that. Thinking that the very existence of them, in a video game, mind you, to be baffling—that -is- kind of… you know, not very good. Like, you can bring up all these points and stuff, but in the end, you’re saying that fat people wouldn’t be realistic and wouldn’t belong here, which is… misinformed, to say the least. It might also be beneficial to you if you were to maybe think about it a bit more, why you were called that. Reflecting upon things might help you understand things a bit better, and maybe show things in a different light.

“That’s just how science works” I regret to inform you this, but… The science you talk about, is a bit more complicated than a generalization like that. Not the same thing works for everyone. A person can do as much exercise as they want and not lose weight, and that’s not because they’re not trying! Bodies work differently. The science out there, the information exists and it’s for the general population, but, not every single person that belongs to that population is the same and would respond the same way to what you’ve been suggesting. You may know a bit more about how that science works if you think more about what other people are saying, maybe. Information from just one source about a thing like this leads to having limited knowledge of things, it might be a bit helpful if you consider the side of others

Of course free speech is important, and yes, what everyone says matters. I agree with you on that. That doesn’t mean that that free speech doesn’t come with responsibility, though. You’ve been arguing about, basically, how fat people wouldn’t exist in this universe because, to you, that makes sense. You’re -free- to say that, yes. That doesn’t change the fact that it’s kind of unfair to fat people, though. And now that I’ve provided you with some science—which you seem to be really into, which is why I’ve decided to share it with you—maybe you could think some more about it

Maybe it’s because in a world where people are active and running around and fighting and not eating modern refined foods and sugar, very few people are fat.

To name a few fictional characters who are pretty much fat and active, running around and fighting:

- Mei-Ling Zhou, from Overwatch
- Roadhog, also from Overwatch
- Hunk, from Voltron: Legendary Defender

In a world where there are frog people who worship the sun, where russian-y mole people exist, beings of light and magic, and -dragons-, you’re telling me that fat people wouldn’t exist… Idk man.

And it’s not as if fat athletes don’t exist in the real world, either. They do sports like football, baseball, weightlifting, etc… Sports that, you know, demand them to be active.

Thanks for your input though

Adding new physique options would mean they’d have to reskin all the existing armor skins to fit the new physique types, which would be a lot of work, which means Anet probably won’t do it.

If Anet does find the time for such an ordeal, I’d rather they work on an entirely new playable race, which would require a similar amount of work.

There already are plenty of fat body phisque options for humans and norn. For muscular women, again, look at norn. And for thin physiques, look no further than humans and sylvari especially.

What you’re asking for is already in the game. Maybe not for the race you like to play, but it’s there. In a way I’m happy that each race has their own set of physiques. It helps distinguish the races from each other. Norn already are basically just giant humans and that’s it. The fact that their women on average are more muscular than human females and their men fatter than human males makes them a little more distinguished from humans and a little bit more unique.

The body types that do already exist in-game are kinda different from each other, but that doesn’t mean that it’s already diverse. People come in a lot of shapes and sizes, and the current available options only ever really look sleek and not fat. Like yes, there are the bulkier options, but that’s pretty much muscle only. It’s either thin, wide shoulders/wide hips, or bulky.

I don’t think it would be too terrible for them to accommodate for other body types because they kinda just. lazily scale up the armors for bigger body types anyway, and this is especially apparent with the bigger Charr body types. They -can- do it, and they don’t do it too well, but they can.

“There already are plenty of fat body phisque options for humans and norn.” No offense but have you ever seen a fat person before. Not all of them are blocky boulders of gut, as you may have been led to believe.
