18/10 SBI - FA - DB

Honestly dont know so far who has worse roamers between DB and FA, everyone is just soooo bad lol.

I know FA has literally the worst players in the game (even though core transfering there somehow brought down the average with how bad they are lol), hopefully DB is only sending out the terribad roamers on reset and the less terrible ones come out during the week but i doubt it.

must be trolling.. i dont even.. what??

Leagues are a success

It’s far to early to call the leagues a “success.” In fact, given that they’ve barely started, I kept re-reading the original post, looking for signs of sarcasm. It’s possible to see when something fails quickly, I’d say we’d probably need to get to week 3 or so before we have enough data to call it a “success.”

Skill Lag...

It’s almost definitely something with this most recent patch (halloween + leagues).. I also heard about yaks stuttering, and saw several people die in the middle of nowhere, with no enemies or mobs in sight. They were just walking along, and suddenly were dead.

Skill Lag...

I really think this patch may have messed something up. This week seems significantly worse than last week, by a big margin. Last week I was in the SBI/SoR/SoS match (which on reset night was full queue vs full queue/etc).. This week SBI/FA/DB – similar number of players but much worse lag. In fact it appears people are running in smaller groups because of the lag, and the lag is still worse.. I hope devs will look into what might have caused this..

Season 1 schedule?

They should publish a schedule.. Probably all pro sports leagues publish the schedules before the league starts. And pro e-sports publish the schedule of a particular tournament. Even amateur sports leagues generally publish schedules, for that matter..

Yeah, execpt:
1. 1-3
2. 4-9
3. 10-15
4. 16-24

Oh, and NSP should be manually bumped to 15

This is exactly what I posted on the SBI forums just now (excluding the manual bump part, though that’s not a bad idea :P).. I think this would really maximize the fun for the most number of people if we could get this..

I think the SBI/SoS strategy should be to split up as much as possible. Apparently you guys get stronger the less of you there are around!

In other news, some fun fights on the SoR BL today. SBI caught us with our pants down and our commanders on other maps, and it was a bit of a slugfest to push them back off our towers and keeps. Lots of SoR getting real lazy about that scouting, thanks for keeping us on our toes about it.

I’m thinking that this was probably said sarcastically, but the strange thing I’ve noticed is that it’s actually true – we (SBI) seem to do better against SoR when we run in smaller groups. At least in my limited experience. I’m not sure why this is, but I theorize that we have a hard time against your battle hardened zerg when it is ZvZ.. And you easily destroy our zerg when it is omniblob vs omniblob..

But once we split into smaller groups, we can “accomplish” more on the map, so that even if individual groups still get crushed, other groups can accomplish “something.” And then improving morale for that moment/etc.

I don’t know if any other SBI’ers noticed this, but I think we should actually practice this as a strategy, to the degree possible.

Is the Gold League Pointless

The problem with 1-3, is that they would be forced to admit that there is no competition from anything less than the top 3; and in admitting the problem they admit their complicity. From there, they have to give a reason for continued inaction; and in the end they have to admit that they are going to take all the money from gem sales and spend it on hookers and blow. (j/k, plz don’t infract me)

Wow, it’s rare to read something so incisive on the forums..

I think some clans started to get a taste of gold and thought it wouldn’t be as easy as they thought compared to when they were facing mid silver opponents.

I mean we already know most people on SBI don’t really have any loyalty to the server, and SBI as a community obviously doesn’t really care either. They’ve been trying for months to recall clans that originally bandwagoned off to other servers during SBI’s first major exodus. Talk about whoring yourself out for short-term PPT.

Now SBI has a bunch of clans that can’t come close to pulling their weight and are hitting a brick wall of skill in the form of FA and Mag despite their superior numbers. They’ll jump ship soon enough.

Biggest difference between Mag and SBI: If a clan leaves Mag to bandwagon onto another server we’ll tell them to stay the hell off Mag. If a clan leave SBI to bandwagon onto another server, they’ll pay for your transfer back.

Well – i never thought to say that – but I agree with you, at least in part. It is indeed the biggest difference between Mag and SBI – we care about our people. Several guilds left at the exodus, because they wanted something more and better – talking about guilds that were there at the founding of the server, people of high quality and good friends.

Guess what – we don’t hate them. At least I don’t – some others might but it’s not because we lost rank and ppt – it’s because we lost important people.

Yes – I would welcome them anytime back, even if it’s just guesting for some PvE events. They actually did that and it was tons of fun.

Maguma sees those as bandwagoners and deserters. We see them as SBI alumni, “raised and trained on SBI” – that’s from one’s signature.

I guess it’s a matter of age – when you’ll be old enough to have a family and significant people around you, you’ll understand what I mean. Meanwhile carry on, being a teenager and having extreme opinions is only natural.

Haha, I was thinking this exactly. I would not want to be known as the server that no one ever returns to, or that doesn’t welcome back former players. The only thing that shows is that a person holds grudges, or that the experience on the server was so bad – no one wants to return. I’d far rather be the opposite.. As you said, maybe that’s just what we get with our years.

The real intriguing/unfortunate thing here is that in terms of actual match-end, no matter who wins neither SBI nor Maguuma can get into Gold at this rate. For SBI to have the point uptick to actually not only surpass Maguuma but also to knock Fort Aspenwood into Silver (note: by match-end it is very possible that SoS is the 5th place server if they can just hold their current ground against TC), they would need to destroy both of us (akin to the current T2 matchup in EU) which I don’t really see happening.

It’s bad timing and a bad draw both at the same time. Still, we can at least have some fights, we’ll see how we look as the week passes on, it has only been one day after all.

This would probably be true if leagues started next week, but they start on the 18th, right? There’s one more matchup before leagues start. Who knows what RNG will bring next week..

Just wanna say this… Most of my old server mates — several small or medium and big guilds — moved to SBI because it was NOT winning easily.

Sounds like crud to me. I think it is more likely a bunch of folks moved there to be the top of the silver league, which would have been the case if ANET didn’t push back the start date. How much ‘not winning’ did you expect to be doing at the top of silver?

This is actually relatively accurate. I’ve run with a number of the early transfer guilds (before many people were even talking about leagues or “crushing” anyone). The first 3 or 4 guild transfers were looking for good fights, and maybe to take us to T3.

Then yes, it did seem like more and more became interested in transferring to SBI. But by then, it wasn’t to dominate silver (which at that time was ranks 13-24), as we would have been pushed out of silver anyways. None of the people recruiting on our side have ever expressed the desire for T1, in fact often pitching that we want to avoid T1. But sometimes you do things and get unexpected results.. The hope is people are enjoying the experience on SBI.

Well this is interesting. SBI clearly won reset night, but the real question is can they sustain it? Because if they can’t T2 will eat them alive. After all with FA losing guilds the difference between FA and TC is vast. Definitely a match to watch.

Yeah – it’s funny, even with the inside perspective, we have no idea on the sustainability question.. The past month or so for SBI, the matches have been fairly clear blowouts a a number of hours into reset night, and a lot of us barely play the rest of the week. This will be the first time in about four weeks that we have a match-up that’s interesting – and even we have no idea what the presence will be post reset night..

Reset night has nothing to do with your…….. playstyle.

Calling in 2 other guilds before even attempting to engage an even/smaller force is a….. unique way to play.

It’s doubtful anyone “calls in” other guilds on purpose. I’ve never heard it on teamspeak. What happens is people see orange swords, or someone is simply reporting scouting info (X mag headed to Y) and people come to investigate/fight.

(snip)
All I gotta say to SBI is that in my opinion you’re really far from being gold league material but I guess you can prove me wrong after the league starts (if you make it) since DB is mostly dead we will see how you do it against Mag & SoS ^ ^

Nice job there.. Of course SBI has much to learn.. Though, what does “gold league material” mean? If it means being in the 6th spot and getting rolled every match – yeah I think we (SBI) are able to meet that criterion. :/ If “gold league material” means, has a shot at winning gold league – everyone knows only JQ, BG, and SoR are “gold league material”…

Getting 6th spot has everything to do with who RNG places against whom.. Though definitely a Mag/SoS/SBI matchup would be very interesting.. We can all hope it happens..
