I don’t know, my prime time is 4 hour queue for 20min play. I think our night players will be happy if they have some resistance. Maybe the problem is not our server but yours which are not able to mobilize during night…
No, cause their rules are rules that must be applied.
They decide when prime time is.
They decide that everyone have to sleep when they are sleeping.

Sure it was really more fun to get focus by the 2 others servers all the week end, and u can tell me it wasn’t volonteer but when bay is under attack from South by FS and North by Desolation trust me even the better you’r u will have bad time. But for you it’s was balanced and fine.
But it’s ok we deal with it so do it too now, the fight isn’t done with this weekend and i think we will have many surprises from all server this week, let’s see that and gl all.

A compromise needs to be made for the sake of majority of players. This is it.
Night cappers may still contribute, just not as much. Period.
You have realize there will be never be perfect balance where all servers in the match up have “night shifts”, NEVER (save for NA top bracket maybe). Unless all 3 are French \o/. Maybe that’s the solution, huh?

they could limit upgrades at “night time” as well. If you upgraded your keep in “prime time” and keep defending it over-night – your upgrades stay. If someone captures it – they can’t upgrade it till morning. This may be the case only with claimed keeps, for example.
Finding a server in your time zone is NOT a problem, why should these players be “protected” when they ruin the game for everyone else?
Because these players work at night ? two of my best friend was here the last night capping, we live in middle France, one of them is a nurse other is firefighter, they both work at night so they live more at night than day so why u blame them if they play with their shedule ?
And pls stop thinking we are all canadian cause we’re not ! u humiliate yourself by hiding on this.

None of my suggestions stop nurses or firefighters playing the game. They can play, they can capture and do whatever, just maybe not upgrade some of the keeps (which were claimed).
OR they can join a NA server and play at their primetime.

Seconded. Something needs to be done. There are many suggestions on forums and it’s not even THAT hard to fix
I’ve posted this in suggestions but i’ll repeat it here too.
Night capping is easily fixed.
Just define night-time for each region (EU/NA/Oceanic) – say 2 – 8 am. Everything works the same, but objectives net 3 or 5 times less points than during primetime.
That’s it – no one stops you playing, but if you deliberately chose to play outside of your region (why would you even do that…), it won’t allow you to gain unfair advantage (and even in close games night capping might still help)
I’m not sure if they have French servers in NA, if not – adding one would be needed then
Also, would be nice to be able to “claim” keeps at night time (probably for guilds only), which could work like this:
1) Once night time starts, the first guild to claim a keep now has a 24-hour window in which it will get a 90% discount on re-upgrading the keep if it has been captured. And it will only work once. And this night, no other guild can “claim” this keep again, but they can capture and upgrade nonetheless.
So basically, you captured a keep at mindnight and successfully defended it till 2am. Now, “night time” starts, your guild claims the keep and logs off. During the night, it might have been captured and upgraded and then re-captured and re-upgraded, but once your guildies go online, if they successfully capture it back before the new nighttime starts – they can upgade again for much cheaper (but only once)
Bottom line – it’s a game, not real warfare, so it’s about having fun, not winning no matter what
Yes, in the real world war rages 24/7. But then, the winning side doesn’t stop at some “camp” with superheroes (i.e. elite guards), they conquer you and take over,kitten pillage and murder. I don’t think we want to play this kind of game, do we?
Thus, I offer the following rough solutions to battle night capping:
1) Just define “nighttime” for all regions, which should be something like 2-8 or 10am, when all keeps, towers etc. net 3 or 5 times less points than at “primetime” – voila. If you want to play at night – you can, it just won’t give you a super lead in points.
Yes it’s fair, because the “night cappers” deliberately chose a server outside of their timezone. And they can easily transfer back while it’s free
2) It would also be nice to be able to sort of “claim” the keep, which would let you re-upgade it again with big discount if it has been taken during nighttime.
Say, the first guild to “claim” the keep once nighttime starts have 12 hours to re-upgade the keep at 90% discount if it has been taken from you. No one can reclaim (but CAN capture and upgarde and whatever) before the 12 hours have passed and the claim only works once

90% of people just dont bother queing for it at all anymore. Whats the point? to get spawn griefed by teams with siege weapons set up outside the starting points? This has gotten beyond pathetic. Quit allowing free transfers, its ruined the game.
Support. I can’t even believe how much of a bad move it was to publish WvWvW rankings while still allowing free transfers. It should have been completely obvious that everyone would leave to the high ranking servers. Won’t really be surprised at all if they start doing server merges because of this..
This. It’s easy for all of us to judge and maybe devs shouldn’t be getting SO much heat but man, this is just a really bad decision.
Why do we need free transfers at all? Yeah, I’ve joined my mate on a sucky server wvw-wise (as it turned out) – so what, it’s been 2 weeks into the game, if it doesn’t tank right now, it will get better, why be so cheap and intentionally go for sub-par gameplay with long queues and NO fun camping spawns
Is there even 1 person who thinks camping spawns is any fun at all?
I love how people instead of adapting to the game want the game to change to please them.

nah man, I’ve seen 2 ppl wipe 4 – but they were true 80s with exotic gear vs a pug of lowbies (me included). and they were struggling – exactly because of downed state. The amount it takes to finish someone off is kinda stupid. It was irking me ever since I saw the pvp vids on youtube and thought to myself: “Man, this animation takes really long to be performed before the battle is over”
It would be cool if you couldn’t ress yourself and do ranged damage (rally if you manage to down someone in melee is probably OK) – would add a nice touch finishing off heavily wounded enemies like in real battles
But it’s not the issue #1 right now in the World vs World vs Spawn Campers, so whatever, they can really look into it later
Or as you said, ppl will adapt BUT it would be more healthy to adjust the game balance towards skill vs zerg imo, that’s all
I think it is intentional. Anet has said (Mike Ferguson said) that they, “don’t want players just farming eachother”
They want you to take objectives. And if your small man is rolling zergs in open field, that’s gonna interfere with objective farmers.
The downed state ensures that “zergs of a certain size” can not be defeated in open field, and can safely move from one objective point to another.
I don’t know why, but roaming is the most fun type of pvp for many people, me included – the hunting or the surprise of being hunted down is what really gets the adrenaline flowing, probably because it’s so sporadic so it doesn’t become dull (like in spvp) and also when you kill someone – you know it was you who did it, not the massive aoe from another 50+ people.
Why they need to intentionally kill this playstyle is beyond me.
Hopefully – this will change some time.
short anwser is No. That’s the point. you only get both gear and skills in SPvP. In WvW it’s just the level that scales
it’s funny how mass pvp aspect of this game is mostly really good gameplay-wise and at least much better than in any other MMO that launched in several recent years – and it got borked by something so trivial as queues.
I personally feel, that it’s not just the matter of long queue times, but that population caps are also not working properly and it’s first come-first served, regardless of the server you come from.
There are numerous posts pointing out the population imbalances (i.e. 30 reds vs 40 blues vs hundreds of greens) while all the servers have queues.
On Underworld, i’ve been in what seemed like a 20-30 minute queue just yesterday and when i got in – there were 20-30 Underworld players in the zone. All chased by a huge mass of Arborstone invaders. Needless to say, the whole zone was painted one color.
It didn’t even occur to me that it’s the pop cap bug (what else can it be?), but now that I believe I have a good guess for the reason on crappy wvw pairings I actually feel relief, because it’s something that is possible to fix technically – they just need proper queues and cap mechanics.
So basically – yeah, seems like we’ll need to wait it out. Sometimes I wonder if I should’ve waited out another month to see if GW2 tanks (because of queues, jeez…) before purchasing, but so far i’m having fun anyway (although i’m very new)
BUT there is no sub even so it shouldn’t be a problem to wait a little even if you don’t play the game, right?
