Gliding for me tips WvW into a two tier game mode. Before we had runes, sigils, wep and armor recipies, provisioner, gennies, elite specs…all tied to HoT ownership. I have HoT and non-Hot accounts and, until gliding, I didn’t feel too disadvantaged when playing my non-HoT account. Now I do. It’s not always a huge advantage. In fact, in a straight line, you’re faster on the ground. But, in too many areas of Alpine & Desert (not tried EB), it saves HoT owners significant travel time over non-Hot owners. Less travel time, more do-something-useful time. I don’t want it to go but I don’t like it being tied to a monetary purchase in a competitive game mode.
I’m thinking of getting the expansion for my Non-HoT account basicaly because I’m mostly in WvW and PvE stories last me ages. I only finished the HoT story a couple of months back and I bought it at launch. Still less than 50% of the way through Season 3. And I’ve only really looked at Tempest and Druid from the HoT specs.
So, it seems that PoF will not reqiure HoT to play. That’s good. But what about things like the Tyria mastery track and the HoT only WvW things such as Shield Gens and Provisioner? Will these things remain tied to HoT?

I’m wondering too. I’m assuming that if you have HoT you will be able to glide. I’m just not sure 100% that if you don’t have HoT and therfore can’t glide, some areas will be
inaccessible. I can’t see this being the case but it could use clarification.
I think what the question mean is “Do I need to buy HoT first to play PoF”. There are people who think you have to buy both xpac seperately.
Yeh. I have three accounts. two with HoT, one without. My question is basicaly, and sorry if it’s been answered already, can I buy PoF for the non-HoT account and not miss out on anything other than HoT specific content?
As Tiamat said, BB will never get linked and it will slowly decline if it’s kept at Full. It should be switched to High for a month at least.
If it decline it will go back to Very High… That’s how it works.
Very High, my mistake. But the first part…linking mitigates the problems of “full pop” servers who still strugle in WvW. Deso linked are No1; unlinked can end up a long way down. End of March, they’ll be linked again. All EU servers bar BB have been linked at least twice. BB is a special case. I think ANet needs to open it up to transfers for a short period. I think that would be fair.
edit…Now I think about it, maybe Riverside or Kodash have only had the one link. I’m not sure.
On the plus side, Baruch is the one truly national server. 95% Spanish, 99% Spanish speaking. It probably has the best community in the whole game. Still, WvW players are a competitive bunch, and this can lead to disagreements and people/guilds quitting the server.
