I agree that we were oversold the scope and depth of the patch (look at the wild speculation to see what people expected based on the initial Red post), but that’s not my biggest concern.
My question to ArenaNet is simply this: why don’t you have a test server for major updates? With other MMOs (e.g. SWTOR, LOTRO, WoW), they roll out major updates to a test server first, let people bang on them a bit, make adjustments, and then roll the patches out to the live servers. This helps the company understand what needs to be adjusted in the patch before making it live, and it absolutely helps the community because we know what to expect before the patch drops.
Also, two developers working on all the classes? Okay, fine. Perhaps, instead of hiring more developers, ArenaNet would consider hiring some community managers who can take feedback back to the devlopers, rather than having the devs spend time on the boards trying to defend their actions. Just a thought (and I nominate BogOtter, btw)
