Cheapest I have seen lately is $15.99 for GW2 Core Heroic Edition at greenmangaming.com, in the VIP sale section. They are a legitimate online retailer.
I bought it that way, didnt want to waste $50 on an expansion before I even played the core game. I’m in no hurry for the expansion,. I’ll get it when its on sale some day.
Anet obviously does not want to make a cheaper option available when they can use the F2P trial to coerce new players to buy a full price expansion instead.
Yes, this is the one I just bought. GMG are a good shop. They are not shady or whatever. I have got games from them for a long time now. Very reasonable.
Just out of interest did your account have restrictions? I have found that mine has some of the restrictions, but not all. Like I am only level 11 so far (guardian) but can go to lions arch. Even though the rules say level 35. However the trade shop is blocked of some items and it says wait 4 days (that’s fine). But it also says upgrade to heart of thorns. We will still be able to do normal account stuff yes, after the 4 days? Just not play the new area and things? That’s ok too, but bag space is a pain – I had to keep throwing away items as I could not sell them. I’m not too worried on waiting a bit. Thier is plenty to explore.
Did you find out anything on this? I bought the Heroic Edition online, and it works ok. I can go to Lions Arch, and leave the early zones. The f2p chart says that would be blocked, but I can still do those things, and my account page shows a full active copy.
However, I cannot sell things on the trade shop or buy things. I was running out of space too so had to throw away items, until a mate sent be some bags.
It says I have to wait 4 days. It also says I have to upgrade to hot but I paid for the game, so can’t afford to pay again really. A person responded in a post I made (here: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/support/Can-t-access-items-on-trade-post/first#post5539560 ) that said it would go normal after the 4 days though so I will see. I hope so.
If not I can reverse the charge hopefully, but they should tell retailers not to sell these copies if they will not work. That’s unfair. Plus, I’ll have to start over again.
If the TP doesn’t unlock after 4 days (which is the standard lock-out time for any account), you can contact the CS Team for assistance via the ‘Support’ link above/below and ‘Submit a Request’. I’m sure they will be happy to help.

the restriction is 4 days for all new accounts ( f2p and bought one)

Ah, alright. I keep playing in the meantime. I also found the pvp lands and tried that, so plenty to do till then. ty :-)
So, I bought the game and installed it. It’s all working fine. Items on the trade post are locked though and it says I have to upgrade to heart of thornes and wait 4 days. This isn’t a free account though. Is it a level thing? I’m currently at 11 i think. I activated an authenticator (and recorded the number like it said) and got the free pet. The dragon thing.
I thought maybe it was an error and it was free to play, but it let me go to lions arch, which on the faq says is locked till 35. And I could also leave the beginning zones before 10, which was another f2p restriction (according to the chart anyway. Is that still up to date?). Will I be able to play normally after a week or whatever? I joined my mates guild and he sent me some goodies &bags, so it was ok (was running out of space and couldn’t sell things – had to chuck them).
Any help appreciated.
