I think the event design is a big part of the problem as well. All the massive lag/glitches aside, what we have here is a chain of events that only happen once at a specific time spread out over a few days. It makes sense that the reward at the conclusion of the event is greater by comparison, but it does NOT make sense that if you participated from day 1, you get absolutely nothing if you weren’t there in the final moment the ancient karka was defeated. Through a lucky coincidence, my schedule was free at noon PST all three days of the event and I dutifully participated even though it was miserable—the unrendered enemies, the tedious waves of which went on for far too long, and insta-death from invisible poison that wiped my group several times over and prolonged the event significantly. I had a RL obligation come up in which I had to afk near the end of the boss fight, but being a GW1 player for many years, I remembered how fair Anet is towards players and figured I’d come back to see I was still rewarded for my hours upon hours of time put into this event. Instead, I received nothing. This entire event was completely unfun for me due to its design alone. The unfairness of the reward distribution was insult to injury. Knowing that people who didn’t participate at all until the very end of the boss fight received a huge reward while I received nothing for my several hours put in over the past few days was extremely disappointing. I res’d countless players throughout this event and switched to heal-support for much of it to help keep people up. I sincerely hope Anet learns from this and, as others have said, I also hope they will mimic the event style in GW1.
