Instanced Raids Confirmed [merged]

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

I am excited about the new raid content that is coming in Heart of Thorns, but since I do not believe in joining huge guilds of anonymous people, I realize that it will likely be some time before I can convince enough of my friends to join me. Keeping this in mind, I do have some questions about Raids that I would love to see answered in the coming article about it:

As someone who loves doing Paths and Fractals, are my favorite pass-times going to become obsolete? What will the fate of Fractals and Paths be once Raiding is introduced?

If they do not, will the gear I win in them be equivalent to the gear I get in Raids? Let’s get honest here: WoW failed at giving equality to Non-Raiders. Without equivalent gear, I will be looked down upon as a lesser denizen of Tyria. What of my phat gear l00tz?

Raids seem like a great idea. I love that the size of the group is staying small. But I worry about the mentality and over all feel of the community once Raiding comes into play. Most MMOs are a numbers game, some more than others. One of the things I love and often boast about is that Guild Wars 2 lets me play my character the way I want. There is no right or wrong way for me to do what I want to do. I worry that Raiding will change the open-minded state that most Guild Wars 2 players have. What incentive will there be for players to remain open and friendly? How will you (the devs) keep Guild Wars 2 from becoming a game of numbers? (ie: Must have X of Y Stat to Join Group).

This is all the questions I have for now. I do not expect the Devs to answer here, but I do hope someone looks at it and thinks to address some of these points in the coming article about Raids. I am also interested to hear if there are other people out there that have questions and concerns about how Raiding will change Tyria.

Hey there, Jay.

I dunno if you have chosen a guild yet, but I thought I’d let you know about Coffee and Tea.

We are a brand new guild (membership of 2) looking to build our membership base. The main goal of CNT is to create a welcoming, social atmosphere where players can group together, or just sit and chat all day. We believe that choosing a guild is choosing your in-game home. We are small now, but getting in now means you get to be one of the people responsible for cultivating an awesome place for people to be.

We prize nerdiness as well. Check out our Guild Launch, message me here, or PM me in game.

Coffee and Tea is a brand-spanking-new guild (membership of 2!) on Devona’s Rest looking for members!

I am called Flufficorn (flufficorn.2491) and am the leader of the guild. I am a working college student majoring in History, with a successful relationship. I love tea and coffee, though I drink tea more often. My favorite season is winter, my favorite animal is the octopus. I love to read, I play the banjo and the flute. I grew up playing Dungeons and Dragons, reading the Lord of the Rings series, and the first comic book series I ever read was the original Conan the Barbarian.

So, are you wondering why I am telling you about me? I am telling you these things because if we are going to be guild mates, it is important to know about each other. I am a nerdy person looking for other nerdy, laid back people to join me.

I am hoping to cultivate a relaxed social environment in the guild where we can play the game together as friends adventuring about, or just sit in guild and chat all day. I believe that the guild that we choose to be in is our in-game home, so it is important to be welcoming and supportive; to not feel like our members’ only value is their level, their crafting professions, their class, or how often they do or do not log on.

If this sounds like the kind of guild you would like to join, you can message me here, in game, or on the guild website (that I am still working on).

I too, am having the same problem. Has there been any word from the GMs about this? I checked the inventory of all three characters I have, and my bank, and I do not have it. I have never picked up the log book. I have been trying dirt-covered objects for 3 days.
