For what in-world reason do they cost anything at all? The ones from the mists to LA are free. From LA to cities and back are free. I just don’t get it. Now, I get the ‘gold sink’ aspect, but that’s real life intruding on the game.

It doesn’t sound like you get “gold sinks” at all. They have nothing to do with real life. They are there to keep the in-game economy in check. If you want the luxury of instant travel you pay for it. This is one of the better gold sinks you can have in an mmo, purely optional.

It’s really not worth arguing with them anymore heh. They don’t want solutions, they just want to bicker about something on the internet. You’re just feeding the little trolls as I did. Let the children be children, and perhaps they will eventually be weeded out of the game due to ‘such high optional travel costs’.

No, just no. You used the wrong lettertype.

Yeah and I wish I could’ve put a gopher head in as well but it wasn’t to be. Anyways, I do apologize for getting off topic- lets resume: the travel costs are too darn high!

I had no problem trekking my 80 around helping my level 15 girlfriend, selling off most of the loot I got for waypoint money. Which more than covered it, so I ended up walking away from those sessions with a profit.

Oh it’s totally possible to pay man I agree, it just seems preferable to be able to put our hard-earned cash towards sweet new gear not travel costs. I mean, think what you could have done with the plat you spent on that travel.

I think given how hard coin is to come by anyway, the price of way points are way to expensive in general. And at the very least they should still be cheap in the low level zones or at least not scaled up as high as they are in the high level zones.

I also don’t mind exploring but if waypoints are going to be this expensive then we need mounts to make overland travel faster while allowing us to run into DEs.

That…would be sweet.

Yeah, no in game friends at all. I’m glad you have such mature mannered conduct, and bring such intelligence to a conversation.

Because I don’t feel like they are expensive at all? As I said, I didn’t waste money on waypoints. I had 40 gold the day I hit 80, and now I have 80 gold. 3-4 silver is chump change.

For those that did waste their money leveling up and skipping content, I could see how it could be troublesome for you.

Why do I not want way points to be free? Because that would get rid of one of the gold sinks that are a necessity for the economy.

I made a rational deduction based on your comments… I’m sorry you got so offended; hopefully you’re a guardian or warrior in-game because you need thicker skin

And thus the lie of the gold sink is revealed: They only take money from those who don’t have it to spare. It’s the reason that taxes are percentage based and not flat. Players like you can ignore such tiny fees, while people who play less and have less gold have to be more concerned with them. If the cost to waypoint was 1% of your cash, then you’d be on our side.

We have a winner.

Played smart, by not spending my money on waypoints; when there were dynamic events between those waypoints giving me more and more money, and experience and karma.

My argument is definitely legitimate. I’m not the one complaining that I can’t help my friends, because it’s too costly to teleport all over the place. That would be you, and I gave you the solution to your whining.

I understand. You don’t have any in-game friends so this issue doesn’t concern you.

I’m legitimately glad you enjoy the game and running, but I have to agree with Katie that I can’t see how a change in this policy should really be of any bother to you. How could the game possibly be worse for you if they were to slash or eliminate these fees? Unless you’re just trolling of course…

I played smart, and refused to use waypoints at lower levels. You get better experience by actually exploring the zone, and doing the dynamic events you run into. The only reason you should ever need to waypoint at a lower level is to get back to a town to repair, or take a break. By that time, you will have already made the 2-4 silver it takes to WP for an 80 and a lot more.

I’d tell your friend to stop wasting money on waypoints, and actually play the game; instead of hoping from heart to heart or whatever he is doing that needs him to be hopping around.

Played “smart” or played for HOURS AND HOURS RUNNING EVERYWHERE…?

Look, you cant waypoint to a place until you have run there at least once first to discover the point so your argument is invalid.

Scaling waypoint costs to level is senseless. It should be a flat rate determined by how far you’re going. Did it somehow become harder to teleport my character across time and space because he’s tougher and better at shooting a gun?

It’s just an aggravating goldsink and it should be adjusted to make sense.

I agree with this. If GW needs to have a waypoint cost to make game mechanics balance then at least make it fair and standardized. However, I agree with Katie that to make the game truly social, waypoints ought to be free.
