Remove WvW From Map Completion

…I’ve been stuck on the same kitten map for 2 months now and with 99% would completes which is really starting to kitten me of.

That is 2 vista I’m missing TWO!! and i can’t get my title because there in a keep that my server have never taken…

Join the club.

+1 WvW should have never been required for map completion.

Pull mechanics for allies

I was doing the skipping stones jump puzzle and raged quit before going to a mesmer portal to the end Before that, I saw a thief on the first stop and I just wished his scorpion wire could just pull me up, and to know the devs want some portal mechanics in other professions, I think some of the existing pull skills could be the answer. Scorpion wire, magnet, and spectral grasp make perfect sense to me. I especially like the idea of the latter grabbing you and hoisting you up. Because of the potential for trolling when this is turned on, perhaps give an option in the setup to disable ally pulls, or it only works on party members.

Aww man, you people know how many trolls would abuse this mechanic and cause way more trouble that it’s worth? The only way this would work is if it was a voluntary action and asked for the option to be pulled, which would make it clunky and unreliable. Portal works because it is voluntary, has a nice glowy field placed on the ground that you have to go to and the mesmer has to actually walk to both places to place the portal ends. Other skills would have to work in a similar way.

“Hey, I want to use that siege equipment. Get off, yoink. Mine now.”

“Lulz I feel like trolling and will pull my allies off the walls.”

“I know, I’ll sit in a jumping puzzle and pull them off the cliffs.”

I do it all the time. Plenty of peeps ask for it.
Why wait for the server to eventually do it, when you can whisper a dude whos job it is to take it anyway and ask him to get it first.

No structure in the game is unobtainable.
Especially if you want to donate a bit of gold to the war effort
Team work.

That’s kind of a problem right there. What if you are on a server than doesn’t have teamwork or commanders that actually care what people need and the server is consistently in last place? Even if you do get a group, how long is it going to take to obtain and given structure? Maybe you get lucky and have no resistance, but usually as soon as that battle marker pops up, here come the enemy zergs to push you out. I’ve seen weeks where one server controls most of every map for days. It’s not as simple as just asking someone to take a point.

This game does feel like it is lacking polish in areas, but these suggestions are more inconveniencing than fun imo. Personally I don’t want to have my time wasted on those kinds of things.

I’m not going to lie.
I’d spy on every enemy commanders movements with that.

WvW is for fighting.
Ask a commander who you know is good to take the objectives for you.
L2P and keep PvE Q_Q out of the warzone.

Spying would increase so much with this feature but I do understand the frustration of not being able to get map completion. I’ve been sitting at 99% for months and its because of only a couple points in WvW that I won’t be able to get until the server bothers to decide to change colors to the one I need, which btw hasn’t happened in months.

Suggesting that you should ask a commander who is good to get points for you is a joke. WvW shouldn’t have ever been required for map completion in the first place.

A suggestion to make Warrior Banners Mobile

I actually think that banners are right where they should be. Things to consider:

  • They cannot be destroyed
  • The only counterplay by your opponent is to move you away from them
  • They can be moved by the character when needed (one per player with no meaningful weapon skills while moving)

That’s actually pretty darn good. It’d be more nice if other similar boosters like Spirits were as globally useful as banners are. If you removed the only counterplay to a banner, you’d have to nerf the banner significantly, and I don’t think that makes them any more interesting or fun. As they are, however, they can be strong area-supporting skills, and that’s enjoyable.

Alright, I can see what you mean. Though I think it’s much to easy to counterplay banners since all you have to do is move away from them. My suggestion would add counterplay by killing the warrior to remove the banner buffs. Maybe making banners mobile would need a slight nerf, certainly not a significant one, but I don’t think they do given that a warrior would only be able to equip one banner at a time.

Most PvP fights I see are very mobile and never stay in once place more than a few moments, whether banners are there or not. I think it’s because of this banners are not used that much, I certainly don’t use them because of it. Only in certain situations, like a tower siege or on a point are banners used and even then I don’t see them that often. Now maybe that is the intended point of banners. However, I find using a shout build fills the support roll much better than banners. The main reasons are that shouts are mobile, the cooldowns are short, and better support effects can be applied with shouts. All shouts can heal instantly and remove conditions in addition to the standard shout bonuses.

Why do people discredit suggestion posts so quickly? People I mention this to in-game seem to like the idea.

I say no to all of that.

For one, banners not being mobile is one of the key defining characteristics of them. It’s also the price you pay for them providing some pretty good bonuses.

For two, banners being mobile and not replacing your skills? That’d go over very well with the Engineers, since, you know, they can’t do that either.

And wait, did you just suggest that using the elite banner would give all banners the passive fury, might and swiftness? Yeah, that’s totally not overpowered.

Maybe I should have said more mobile and not just mobile, since anyone can just pick up a banner and bring said pretty good bonuses with them already.

What do Engineers have anything to do with this? Kits and Turrets are completely different than banners.

Obviously Battle Standard has a limited time and would still have a limited time.

I have a suggestion to improve warrior banners. This addresses the issue of the lack of mobility with banners, a primary reason why banners are not used as often.

Instead of a place-able pickup with skills I suggest the following changes.

- Banners are always attached to the warrior (on the back) but does not replace weapon skills (i.e. a kind of aoe passive signet)
- Restrict banners to one per warrior (i.e. only one banner can be placed in the utility slots)
- Battle Standard skill upgrades any currently equipped banner with the effects of the current battle standard (i.e. swiftness, fury, might boons with revive on summon) while retaining previous banner buffs. Also can be used without equipped banner.
- Using the active skill on a banner has the same effect as using skill 2 & 3 as with current banners. (i.e. grants swiftness and banner specific boon) while retaining banner buffs
- Traits that affect banners. Cooldown and effect range trait remain unchanged (cooldown now would apply to active skill on banner). Banners granting regeneration trait instead applies a similar effect as healing signet instead of regeneration boon as aoe effect. Banners causing damage on summon now work off active banner skill.
