Guild Wars 2

For as long as I can remember I’ve been getting constant lag spikes which can go from a mere 500 ping to a massive 9000+ ping, on all online apps whether it’d be on the web or on a game. There lag spikes are common and unbearable, especially in games such as Guild Wars 2 where the lag can make me dc half way through a dungeon or world boss. There are several other people in the household who use the internet frequently and don’t get lag spikes, so I’m guessing the problem is something with my laptop.

On rare occasions I don’t get these horrendous lag spikes, but 70% of the time I do.

I’m not that tech-savvy but I have a Windows 7 64-bit Alienware laptop. I recently took the bottom section off which covers the contents inside the laptop and cleaned it out, then for the next few hours I had no lag spikes, increased download speed, and an overall faster performance, only for the lag to resume the day after.

Another solution which I desperately tried was typing ipconfig/flushdns on command prompt and then restarting the laptop, which worked temporarily only for the lag spikes to resume the day after.

So my questions are, is this packet loss, and how can I fix it?

I’ve submitted a ticket, and i feel extremely stupid. I haven’t played GW2 for a while and got a new laptop and i forgot my Account Name, although i remember my password as i can long in onto the forums and the site. Was submitting a ticket the right thing to do or is there another way i can figure out my Account name?
