I think that even if they added mounts, waypoints may still be used especially since some events would end or come close to an end as you arrived only via your mount from farther locations. I wouldn’t worry about the stoppage of waypoint use. Overall a great summary and I believe that Anet has given us NO REASON as to why we shouldn’t have mounts in the game.
We’ve had some amazing ideas, and if any of them are implemented into the game, i’m very sure that they will make it much better and more enjoyable than it already is!
i’m so very ready for player housing
the more involved, the better! yeah, make me build it from scratch using nails i have to mine the ore for! make me saw the planks to build the walls! make it upgradable! got 2k extra orrichalcum and 3k ancient wood? great! you can upgrade to a mansion! >:D
my one and only real request, however, is that others be able to visit my home.
please.
Haha, i love that idea! I think if they do ever release it, that i should be something we have to do from the ground up, i mean a house that i build myself would mean much more than one that i’d buy. In addition, the ability to upgrade it would make the experience that much more exciting because it would give people incentive to want to visit your house to see it.
We don’t need player housing. Other games have it, go play those instead.
I don’t believe you understand the potential this game brings to the genre. It makes mince-meat out of anything like it out there and that is something we can all agree on. However, if we use the excuse that “there are other games out there” with something we want, it makes it harder to be able to build on the potential. YES, there will always be games out there that have SOME aspects that we want, but to put it all together is something that no game has gotten right. The best way to be able to expand is by listening to the players, because at the end of the day they’re the ones who will make this game a success.
All you guys make great points:
- We need somewhere to show what we have accomplished and what better way than a house where all of your achievements can be displayed.
- In addition to storage in the bank, we could have storage at our homes which would add another aspect of realism to the game.
- We have great crafting professions in the game which i think should be used for more than JUST what your wear and use as a character. If they were also used to bring life to your very own house, it would allow for unbeatable customization.
I believe this is the most PROBABLE way to approach the next big update for Guild Wars 2.
So now, where do you guys think they should have the player houses/guild halls? Instances or maybe even in some cities? Divinity’s Reach came into mind when i think of player housing especially, since its environment feels like the best place to build a house.
You have to agree the underwater game play in this game is well above any other MMO, and with that its understandable that the mechanics aren’t as fine tuned as we might like(especially in PVP). However, from a purely PVE perspective, i’d enjoy an underwater city.
I’d rather have a guild hall. Guilds need a place for members to gather and hangout like in GW1.
I agree, it would be a great addition. I was looking forward to player housing, however its been brought to my attention the idea of these “Guild Halls” which sound very interesting. I think the mechanics behind both ideas would be the same, that they go hand-in-hand. I believe that if they do indeed release either, the other should follow close behind.
It seems as if most players would like something that they can call their own in the game and with that comes the potential to make money (if that is what Anet wants), and if not it would certainly only increase the player base in the game which itself rewards the creators. I’d say put SOME KIND of player housing/hall into the game as to give us an idea of how that will work and then tweak it as the game progresses.
What do you guys think about player housing? I’ve seen it a lot in many MMOs and i believe it gives the game a certain “I feel at home” vibe. In addition, it provides tons of customization and lets you feel unique allowing you to show everyone what you have accomplished on your “journey” throughout the game. Do you think we will ever see player housing in Guild Wars 2?
