Like the topic title states, I hope that Anet considers adding a feedback form at the end of this event since not the majority visit and post in these forums for feedback. They were used in the past in Beta Weekend Events and I think it would be pretty useful to gauge how well received this event has been and to further improve upon the game.
My thoughts so far on the range of issues that have been popping up on this festivity:
*Clocktower Jumping Puzzle
I found this puzzle pretty challenging but fun overall. I haven’t felt this frustrated on a JP since the Dreamdark Enclave one in Caledon where there was a pretty tricky spot to jump and I had just begun the game. While many feel that adding a group was a huge mistake, I think that it added to the experience making it worthwhile in the end. Would of been better if you had a way to go with friends or instanced solo for those who prefer. In the end it gave a social feeling whether for good or bad .
*Black Lion Chest skin droprate
To be honest I find it appalling how low the rate to find a Halloween skin from a BL chest is as seen from Baron Von Graymouse’s thread. Like many have often stated in these forums it is a chance, but, if you truly need to spend such a huge amount to get something worthwhile, it is pretty troubling in itself.
I completely skipped on this “event” since I have learned from past game experiences about such low odds in these type of events, and, nothing truly resonated with me…though I fear the day when I feel I must get that one thing and the odds are astronomically impossible.
*Mad King’s Labyrinth Chest
This one is quite a big blunder by the part of Anet since those who got online early were able to gain a handful compared to those from post-patch. It could of been easily avoided if Anet had better QC and done some quality tests as the problems were quite obvious.
Now this is quite the tricky issue due to the fact that it did happen while live, however, the emergency measures taken made it worse since it makes people feel that the only way to get ahead is by exploiting early.
I feel that Anet should take a more pro-active stance towards this type of things rather being reactive.
Nerfing everything is just a stop-gap measure and it isn’t solving the original problem at all, which is one of gameplay. People often go for the path of least resistance with the highest internal (fun factor) and external (economic) payload such as the shortest and easiest route in a Dungeon or place to grind Dynamic Events. Anet needs to counter that by bringing more options rather than limiting them. If an area is being overpopulated, rather than suppress it, Anet should find an alternative for the other areas to be as fun and rewarding.
I am being critical of Anet’s recent moves not because I hate the game, but rather, I want the game to be improved further. The only way to do so is for Anet to receive feedback.
Thanks to those who actually read this huge block of text m(_ _)m
