I have an ancient Duo core 3.17ghz Cpu /4gigs ram and when i got my SSD last year i shocked at how much faster things were loading. Eveen with my old hardware i was usually one of the first to load when i was running champ trains at the time. SSD are really cheap now and well worth it to put windows and the game on. As for other games i put them on my HDD.
As its been said a million times before GW2 is a CPU dependent game that doesn’t offload much too your GPU. I wish it would make better use of video cards since i have an old CPU but newer GPU .
I’m not the only one i know with this problem. When i listen to music/youtube my audio levels seem normal but when i play GW even turning up the sound even on low its very loud. My soundcard has smart volume management and its off so thats not the issue. Id leave it it on but it makes music sound muted. So any ideas or am I going to have to leave my ingame volume at 3% forever? This isnt’t a new issue Btw.
I recently installed Windows 10 and right away i was shuttering usually well loading or multitasking. Long story short i found a few helpfull things that might help you. Major one is Windows like usual didn’t install all the older Direct X 9c files your system and or game might need . Go to http://directx.en.softonic.com/ and update for the older files. If it says your up to date your fine, this doesn’t change your Direct X version from 12. If it installs files make sure to reboot after. This was a major fix for the issues i was having.
Aside from that make sure you download your chipset drivers and find a good 3party firewall. Personaly I’m using Comodo free firewall/ Avast antivirus …….. When your done installing Comodo make sure to turn off Windows firewall in Windows control panel it will be on the left side of the firewall option screen.
So found some other Issues with Win 10, Seems like other Windows releases the didn’t add the full Direct X files for older versions. Go to http://directx.en.softonic.com/ and update Direct X if the installer says you dont need them your fine. But mine updated a bunch of 9c files " same version the game engine is" and now my issues seem to be gone. So 3party firewall/ Direct X/ Chipset Drivers installed seems to have worked for me
I’ve had some of the same issues with windows 10 myself. Found something that seems to help my issues a bit. I noticed most of the shuttering i had seemed to be with loading so that led me to think it might be my network adaptor since the drivers are old for Win 10. It wasn’t that but i had the right idea, it seems the defalt Win 10 firewall kind of sucks. So i downloaded Comodo firewall “make sure in install options to opt out of Geekbudy and Comodo browser” and excluded GW2.exe from both Comodo and Avast my antivirus. System overall seems to be running smoother with very few micro shutters.
Seems Win 10 might have latency issues also or isn’t playing nice with some of my old hardware. In command prompt “bcdedit /set disabledynamictick yes” seems to be a help also but do not mess around unless you know what your doing
Are you using Windows 10 by any chance? I had to roll back to Windows 7 because of my game freezing and having to hard reset often. I haven’t had this problem before or since on Windows 7. I also had the same issue when i was using my really old Nvidia 512mb SLI cards. Getting the Nvidia 750TI OC 2gb seemed to fix that problem.
I was thinking of buying a hard copy of HOT next Friday instead of pre ordering so i don’t need to download a 30gig file. I was wondering with the new copy of the game will entering the game key interfere with my existing account in any way. I’m guessing the game key is just to make sure it’s not an illegal copy. Or is the game key tied to my account and ill need to change something at some point.
