I think its kinda funny that in other MMOs where there are more clearly defined roles (I.E. your job is only dps, tank, etc..) and its easier to stand completely still and knock out a full rotation, the communities still understand the importance of self-sustain, mobility/up-time, Bloodlust/Timewarp phases & the impact of shorter fights can equal inflated DPS, boss mechanics and Defenses, direct damage vs. DoTs, Aoe Padding, etc….
Most informed players and guides will tell you to switch talents on particular boss fights, etc…
Here we have a beautifully flexible build/combat system in GW2 with no holy trinity required and people locking into bad, bad spreadsheet data. I could blame the game for not having a DPS meter (that can counts HPS, # of interrupts, # of deaths, and Damage Done) or for just not being popular enough to have more people exploring their system. All and all I am very glad Anet is moving away from the dungeon model, but that is just my personal opinion.
This looks like a lot of fun, I will definitely try out the combo. Good write up.
One idea we talked about for Greatsword would be to take the evade off of the 3rd attack of the auto-chain and put it on swoop. This would give you a second on-demand defensive skill and instead we put something less timing based (for example a whirl finisher) on that third attack to empower it.
This sounds nice, but similar to how you want to preserve 1h sword’s unique playstyle, I consider the evasion in the GS auto-attack chain to be a unique playstyle I really enjoy as well. It is part of what defines the GS to me.
For example, used in conjunction with quickness is a fun way to maintain pressure, while upping your defensive posture.
I prefer Swoop for the distance as opposed to an evasion.
I have only ever played my Ranger with power builds, and I am glad to see some positive ideas though.

Our agency is in an open recruitment phase and looking for a few good members to fill out the ranks. We are currently playing Guild Wars 2 on the Tarnished Coast server and Age of Wushu on the Blue Dragon server, but in general we enjoy most other MMOs as well.
Many of us come with plenty of experience in online gaming, actively participating in various amounts of PvE, PvP, RP, theory-crafting, etc… and are willing to share in any of the excitement, glory, or riches that our exploits may entail. Endgame content will be pursued as wanted.
Our underlying goals are to forge a longstanding legacy under one name; create bonds that transcends any virtual space or community; and build a home where like-minded people can relax and have a good time.
If these ideals are of any interest to you, go ahead and submit an application… its a longshot, but you may just get in. ;-)
