Cheers guys! Would love to join you guys and get the basics from grizzled veterans!
I’m EU btw!
Really really good stuff, thank you for taking the time to post.
It seems I have a long road ahead of me to try and figure out what’s what and how to do things in gw2 which is why I got the game in the first place.
I’ll take a look over the [Noob] thread and see if I can get in on some runs.
This guy spent 3h with me today, helping me understand the game and its mechanics.
The D/C/S scheme works out really well in getting the point across and he is an excellent coach. Props to him for taking the time to do this for new players and I only wish I found this thread before I leveled to 80 on my thief because now I want to try at least 3 more professions and tbh, I’m afraid thief won’t be my most liked one of the bunch.
ArenaNet should definitely implement this DCS scheme directly in-game to categorize abilities.
To cut things short, I started out on my thief, having a hard time killing the bear with a sb and getting absolutely destroyed in melee to doing ok-ish in melee and consistently managing to down him.
Thanks again for your time, Dreamy@ I highly appreciate the effort!
Cheers guys, I appreciate the time you took to respond!
However, I am not new to MMOs so I am wondering if maybe you can give me some straight up things I need to look over now.
I did my due diligence (believe me) in learning skills, builds and the like..I used to raid hardcore in WoW so I pretty much know what progression means and how to get there.
My problem is I don’t know the intricacies of this game, of gw2 and I’m sure there are things you only learn after a while so what I’m trying right now is cut that time and ask people that did it already.
I bookmarked a lot of helpful websites, the boss timer one is among them.
To the point – what progression should I expect here? dungeons > raids (?!?) / world bosses > fractals? and if so, what set of gear is best? I’m guessing ascended but up until ascended, what the next best? zerk of the highest quality (I saw you have masterwork, exotic, etc)?
Hello everyone and thank you for reading!
As the title suggests, I just dinged 80 on my first gw2 char – a thief.
What should I be working towards right now? what build/ traits/ gear should I be aiming for and what should I get right now for karma/ badges?
I’m interested in both pvp (WvW) but also pve.
Than you!
..is bugged for me. Tried several times but can’t seem to get the final mob to spawn in the map marker next to the one in the bank (where the small children are)..I only get 2 snake ppl and 1 big charr.
I’m guessing there’s 1 more mob or something that doesn’t spawn and it’s impeding my progress through the game.
How do I progress my story now?
p.s. – tried posting in the other thread for this but it was locked and wouldn’t let me post!
Greetings and salutations to whomever reads this!
As the title states, I am an ex-World of Warcraft, hardcore raider in need of a like-minded group of people to play with in Guild Wars 2.
I say ex-WoWer because for quite some time now, my working hours are not permissive of maintaining the required attendance in order to raid hardcore anymore.
I played for a world top 50 guild (still am part of it, in a casual capacity), am a gamer through and through, having played both CS1.5/1.6 as well as dota w3 competitively and every other game in between – ranging from RPGs to shooters and MMOs.
I picked GW2 two days ago and find myself at lvl.26 on my thief upon writing this post.
I am serious about gaming to the best of my ability and am looking for people that fit the same pattern. That’s not to say I don’t enjoy having a laugh or having fun in the game, quite the contrary – but since my time is very limited, I have little wish to waste it.
Looking for a PvP>PvE guild (in that order) that would fit me and viceversa, in which to spend my time in. I can bring dedication, skill and a lighthearted demeanor!
I don’t normally post in these sort of forums (looking for guild that is) but considering my knowledge of the game is limited at this time, I think of this as a shot in the dark.
I plan on dedicating quite a lot of time to the game, though it might be at awkward hours (as per my working schedule) but if you want a capable, theorycrafting and experimenting rather than following what someone else came up with type of guy, drop me an in-game email!
Even though I wall’o’textd, I consider the information provided still only represents a short introduction. For more information or if you are interested in having me in your guild – as stated above, drop me an in-game email (I’m located on Desolation btw) or post a short introduction to your guild here!
Thank you for your time!

Many thanks guys!
I’m looking forward to that day, Erich!
Hello everyone,
The title says it all, I completed 2 zones (Queensdale and Wayfarer Foothills) today and got 0 charges. I got some greens, a key for a chest I believe as well as some coin.
I am new to the game, having started 2 days ago but I did some research before picking the game up. I remember reading that when a zone is completed, you get a transmu charge, alongside other things.
I also opened a bug report for the Queensdale incident and was wondering if I’m missing something or if this is really a bug (couldn’t find anything related on here, searching under “transmutation charge”).
Thank you for your time!
