GOOD IDEA, honestly I can’t get myself to keep playing PvE (the reason I bought GW2) just because the most interesting ‘End Game’ PvE zones are pretty much dead. People are spread thin, and like you I imagined ANet wanted large groups having lot’s of fun in higher level places. Another solution [imo] would be the ability to actually see where groups of people/hot zones are, for instance make the areas glow on the world-map and/or the mini-map, increase the glow as the area gets more crowded.
Though it could result in massive PvE zergs (maybe TO massive), it could make harder to play areas A LOT more fun. Right now most of the time I avoid high level areas other peeps do the same which creates a spiralling problem just because the reward in those areas aren’t really worth the extra effort unless something would improve the ability of grouping up with random peeps imo.
Harder places should be hard you say? Well Orr has about 3 people on it, this can’t be the how Anet wanted it right?
btw, my server is highly populated so areas in general shouldn’t be underpopulated.
Having said this: shiftingshadows I feel like your idea of a ‘fix’ is actually pretty kitten clever and far better than what I could think of.
I find this a great idea, I was thinking of something like; the greater the event the farther you’ll get notifications on your mini-map if you are in the designated areas or even in neighbouring areas. And like you said for the really big (meta) events a globally displayed notification/subtle timer when close to starting.
I really hope they’ll do something with your idea it would make the PvE a hell of a lot more interesting and action pact =]
