I like the blade but the crossguard (the wings) are entirely too big. That would be why, in my case.

Signed in just to agree with your statement. There’s almost no 1h sword I like in game. There are few exceptions like Infinite Light as you said. They’re almost all cleaver style, single edged blades with ungodly long handles and/or crossguards. I’m not sure where that style arose from but it’s very unappealing for a lot of us. Not every blade needs to be of the serrated teeth hulk smash type. I’d much rather have something like these (from Kekai Kotaki, former lead artist):
