Greetings!

While the market of Guild Wars 2 is admirable and fluid, I do have a couple suggestions that would likely make the trader’s life easier.

First: Work Orders.

Suppose someone needs an item to be made (something simple as Iron Ingots out of Iron Ore), wouldn’t it be nice to set up a trade window with someone offering their services to make a deal? How about a work order window with a drag-and-drop area for the materials and a drop-down menu of what can be made from those materials? At the bottom, an area can be made for tips (assuming that’s part of the deal) or can be left blank if it’s a simple favor. Once both parties are in agreement and have selected OK, the deal is struck. The crafter in question can only make the agreed-upon item with the granted materials, which upon creation would be placed in the work order (or for simplicity, maybe the Black Lion Trading Company). Depending upon what’s viewed as most fair by the developers, money for the work and the requested items would only be delivered upon creation of all items listed in the deal.

I’m not going to suggest this will be easy to implement, but the benefits to this step in the trading system are very clear.

.

Second: Cash on Delivery (COD) Option

There have been several times where I’ve wanted to personally sell an item to another individual directly, but there is no trustworthy means of doing so. I COULD mail the item to them and naively wait for the appropriate amount of money to arrive, but that obviously has its flaws. I could also throw it on the Black Lion Trading Company, but I would lose money off the top from the fees (which are devilishly high) AND the prospective buyer could miss out as a bot or particularly agile/luck player swoops in for the purchase. Why not have a simple COD option in the mailing window? A check box, and whatever item is in the mail can only be picked up by paying the required sum? It would help in many respects (mostly social) and allow members to give items to specific others with some piece of mind that they’re not about to be ripped off.

This option would be exceedingly easy to implement. It’s something that is available in many other games, and for whatever reason it has been left behind.

Thoughts?
