Who we are:
We’re a relaxed, semi-hardcore WvW guild with co-ordinated WvW nights and dungeon nights. We have WvW nights every Thursday and Sunday (the Thursday session is a “boot camp” with the aim of teaching new players the basics and mechanics of co-ordinated WvW and jargon used).
We also have Saturday night dungeon raids for those who want to farm dungeons or get dungeon sets. While these days are devoted to the above activities, any user can start up a WvW night when they choose.

“It’s only a game get over it” – Fly over to Western Australia and wakeup at 2AM in the morning, see how you like it, then. It’s easier said than done. The time slot simply does not work as it’s set in the worst possible timeframe.
Has Anet considered that Europe goes daylight savings at midnight? Have they adjusted for that?
(The US goes daylight savings next Sunday.)
I do believe so, however, that still does not change the fact that it’ll still be inconvenient for players in Europe and America.
Saturday 2pm PST / Saturday 9pm GMT / Sunday 7am AEST would of allowed everyone to enjoy the event.
That would be amenable, although, making it one-time only is still something that will annoy people, given the nature of real life. ANet should have stuck to the system they used in GW.
I can’t attend this event either, and I live a stone’s throw from ANET. However, if there are no prizes, and this isn’t associated with titles or achievements then I don’t have a problem watching it on YouTube later.
If I will be missing titles or achievements associated then I’m going to be a little more upset because that’s-just-lame. I have a feeling that is not the case so I’m not going to get all worked up about it.
ANet hasn’t considered those who live in the covered timezones who have late work shifts during the event. So essentially this event will force people to wake up at absurd times or skip real life commitments.
You don’t receive anything from the event. Im guessing there will so many people it won’t even render proper to view it all.
Well I certainly hope that there will be no rewards gained from the event. That way people can catch up on Youtube.
The original Guild Wars got it right with events, sure the events weren’t built to such scale or magnitude, at least people had multiple opportunities to participate and reap the rewards/benefits. It was a tried and tested method which succeeded, why on earth has this approach been scrapped in favour of a release effectively shutting out Asia and Oceania?
Is this another way of saying, “We didn’t plan in advance, so to cover this logistical error.” What I gather from this is that to prevent people from being spoiled, those living the in Asia and Oceania are being forced to log in at an absurd time of the day simply because you “don’t want players to be spoilt”?
The ridiculous part is that the players ‘being spoiled’ are the players that are going to miss out. Basically, instead of ‘if you missed the event, there’ll be another one in x hours, steer clear of youtube if you don’t want to be spoiled’, we’ve been given ‘missed the event? oh well, it’s on youtube, enjoy’. The reasoning they’ve given us for not having the event happen multiple times simply doesn’t stand up to reason.
The only way that I can see this as being an acceptable thing is if the event is a flashy show only and participants recieve no tangeable rewards/achievements that cannot otherwise be obtained laer on during the event.
I completely agree with you, however, with the way it was marketed, I think that Act 3 is a connective and the most important act in the Halloween event, Act 4 will probably be a resolution and wrap-up.
Maybe for you it has been dissapointing. But for me, I have enjoyed every single thing of it.
And everybody should not be able to get everything from this. There has to be difference in people ingame, that I belive is what makes a game awesome. Seeing a person having something you did not get in time and now it is to late. I would be sad if I missed the special event but I am in the lucky position to actually be able to attend it!What about people buying the game after Halloween is over? Should they also be able to get the special event and items because they brough the game to late? It is basicaly the same thing as not being able to either earn items/titles or attend events ingame.
Just a few thoughs I had in my mind after reading this.
Considering it’s a “seasonal event” I don’t see why people who purchase and play the game post-event should even be factored in, that’s irrelevant. These are seasonal rares, they’ll appear again next year. Honestly, if someone doesn’t have that sort of patience, they shouldn’t be gaming.

I’m not exactly in a financial disposition that allows me to purchase a smartphone and the phone I currently use is not capable of OATH or TOTP. However, I have Google Authenticator enabled on my Google account already, is it possible for me to link Guild Wars 2 with Google Authenticator and eliminate the middleman as it were?
I do wish that ArenaNet would provide physical authenticators for users without smartphones.
