let me reiterate what I said…I leveled in a zerg getting credit for the taps because it was much quicker then solo killing stuff on my own. There was a nice zerg train this morning for about 2 1/2 hours just doing the same handful of events in a circle so that got me from 76 – halfway through 79 (did notice diminishing XP gains though).

If you're having trouble getting gold medals due to lack of damage

This is mainly the stuff i do during events and almost always get gold medals (unless I came in late) I hope this can help out other people who may be getting frustrated getting bronze/silver

Using staff, scepter/focus

This is usually what I start out with

- Well of suffering
-Pop into death shroud and press the 4th ability
-pop out of it, using my scepter press the 2nd ability.

if the event is in a wave format I will use my charzooka while the other stuff is on cooldown (only if you’re charr) if it’s on a single boss encounter I still use it diligently.

when scepter stuff are on cooldown I switch to staff and lay down the 3rd ability and 2nd ability.

rinse and repeat. This gives me tremendous amounts of AOE damage without having the need to rely on slow conditions to take their toll. the only events I have not been able to get golds in at all are the big dragon events.

hopefully this may help other people who are stuggling or even invoke some shared tactics for alternative preferences.

So I was a bit worried about the state of necromancers…leveling past 70 was an absolute chore because it took so freaking long to kill anything (even with equipping lvl 70 exotic weapons) I spent lvl 75-80 in one of the zones that doesnt have any heart quests (forgot the name) just doing event circuit runs with a zerg. I really hope they fix necromancers, even if this is a DoT based class we really don’t bring anything special to the table that other classes do with better results. Our damage output is too low. this is the first time i’ve played guild wars and I really havent looked at any simulations or theorycrafting so maybe it’s an issue with my build and choice of weapons (staff, scepter/focus).

I was interested in the class because of the minions but they’re a huge liability and not worth the utility slots they take up. They constantly aggro stuff I dont want and they die way too quickly. the only minion I have been using has been the bone Minion only so I could blow them up for a quick burst of damage.

I would like Anet to work diligently on the minion AI or give us some type of control. Reduction of AOE splash damage and the inability to aggro random mobs will actually be a huge help.
