What I do know for sure is Kiel forced Evon to hand over his goods or face execution by firing squad. That’s way too excessive, if he refuses simply take what you need. No need to kill the guy. She’s a power crazed bully.

I would agree, but not necessarily in the case of Lion’s Arch under a full invasion.

Let me say for example, all of this was on a pirate ship. It comes under attack by another group and all members are called upon to drive off the attack. The person managing all the weapons declares, “I’m abandoning ship and taking whatever of my stuff I can carry.” If the captain then responds by threatening to kill him seems somewhat reasonable because what he is doing is effectively a one man mutiny.

While Lion’s Arch isn’t completely populated by pirates, it is founded on in part on pirate ideals. It makes sense to me that the Lion Guard would force Evon’s service and demand his goods with threat of death when the town is under an immediate threat.

However, I do wish there was more with Evon during this arc. I would have liked him to play a visible larger role in the retaking of the city rather than him being in a cycle of complaints about the Captain’s Council, complaints about him being press ganged into the Lion Guard along with his stock, and his nice chat with Hobo-Tron. As it stood, if I was walking though Vigil Keep, I was likely hearing Evon do nothing but complain and that really isn’t fitting the mercantile baron I think of him as.

Just to help clarify, it is well documented about the incident with Evon and the asura gate during the Escape from Lion’s Arch release.

I will post this again for clarity’s sake as well. Now, who shut down the gates?

Oh boy. I missed that part. I guess you just debunked a conspiracy.

Not necessarily. Shud’s stated plan speaking with Evon was to shut down the gates out of the city once citizens were evacuated. Even if Evon shut down that one gate, it seems that Shud was ordering the other three city gates closed as well (which they were).

That doesn’t mean that Evon shut down the gate. The city was under a devastating attack and Asura gates are not infallible. It is plausible that the stress of transporting Evon and his group was enough to take that gate down.

I’m somewhere in the middle, while is is never appropriate to berate and insult people in the same event, I do think it is fair to lay blame on a small percentage of people who just collapse under the event. If you went into a dungeon with a group and one of the players was consistantly going down and ignoring any/all suggestions from the rest of the party, they are certainly no free of blame. That is what this event is on a much larger scale.

However, you shouldn’t expect players who don’t do fractals or dungeons to run to an open world event and suddenly know how the mechanics work nor that they are going to think to change up their traits or skills for the boss they are facing. And if they aren’t used to different builds, then learning right in the middle of a boss battle will not be helpful.

I think there is a solutions that the developers can add to help with this. One idea would be to have training lane boss events running in the down time between each of the marionette events. Event pops up and people can run in and experience the boss, maybe change their build between attempts, and just practice to be prepared for when it really started. That way there would hopefully be more successful events without having to make the bosses any easier. The developers might even be able to make them even more of a challenge even.

It wouldn’t however change the people who are only interested in show up for just the main event before vanishing, but given the number of people that stand around waiting for the event, I thinkt that would be a good way to work towards raising the skill set of the players.

Blackgate does Teq every time she spawns, too.

There have been at least three failures to kill Tequatl on Blackgate today alone. None were successful enough to get it close to the first battery event.
