Looks like IoJ isn’t doin so well in the wake of the xfers (as expected). I hope the people remaining that aren’t fighting are at least taking a small break like me. Time to take it easy and save for commander!!
Side note: thanks for the words of support BG and SoR, you guys are awesome. Was fun fighting you guys though I can’t say that I want more month long battles with you THAT soon
I have both a 80 ele and ranger and I can say that I wouldn’t be that worried about it. From my ele’s perspective we already have access to a great deal of swiftness that it would be pointless to use the signet still. I only have it equipped for underwater so I could swim faster so from your standpoint, you shouldn’t feel that great of a difference before and after the patch. For hunter, they really don’t have much for condition cleansing. For chasing both I would get good at using Temporal Curtain (focus) and its cripple/pull. The pull wont work when they have stability but the cripple will so try finding out when is best to use it.
There has been some talk of our oceanics transferring though I can confirm that HIRE has transferred/is transferring to Ehmry Bay. Of course not all will do so but at the moment it feels like it is inevitable that we (IOJ) will drop to t3

As much as would be nice to have coverage in all timezones, I think most of us agree that IOJ is our home. I think it shows when a lot of people say that we don’t understand the word: quit. I really would like the coverage…trust me… I really do, lol. Our uphill battle is so tiring
I also like the engi being able to repair siege (it makes sense to me) just have it require supply.
I do agree that portals must be addressed as they are leeching fun out of wvw. For one, they give a further advantage to those with already superior numbers. It removes any risk factor in attacking a fortified position and getting used to the point of ridiculousness. Not 2 days ago I’ve seen 20 people portal bomb a supply camp with 2 defenders. I cannot find any reason how this shows smart gameplay.
I would like to see the portal being used for smaller scale infiltration though if I had my way I wouldn’t have it at all. I don’t want to nerf the mesmer too much though and I suppose some people may like hiding in a keep but the requirement to sweep a keep for 1 person of 1 class or else you will be in danger of losing it is dumb. Sure, in wvw one person can make a difference but the difference should be his intellect, leadership, or skill not through the grace of being a specific class.
I am doubtful that any change will happen that would make everyone happy but at least change the color of an enemy portal so visually we can tell if we’re going to be ripped apart soon…
Hmm… I was playing in IOJ BL last night so I can’t really tell what exactly our thought process was in EB but let me ask you: what should we have done? How I see it on the map is that our only option was to attack SoR on the west or east side, either way we’d be attacking you guys. Now naturally you guys would counter attack on the east side so if we were to focus on the west and take your towers there, we’d be open to be flanked. Of course we could have just sat around watched you guys do your thing but that would also buy you guys time to mount a strong offensive against us.
Either way, I’m not a commander(yet) so I don’t know… but looking at the ppt at that time, you guys were doing well regardless!
Edit: I just realized SM was still in BG possession but looking at the swords there means that we were hitting it still. Maybe BG was just being awesome at the time so we decided to hit something else? :P
IOJ here. I agree with everyone that no server is working with another server. I must say that when I see that we’ve been pushed on both sides to the point where both servers meet and fight in front of our last tower (which happened earlier at the SoR BL), I can’t blame those who say otherwise—its frustrating. I was one of the last 5 defending it though!
I do hope that we can come out of this rut and return to the IOJ that fought JQ and SBI. Sure even then we had less numbers but it was more of a competition of strategy and determination.
Still is frustrating that for being a highly populated server that we have so many gaps in presence throughout the day, too many people have to put in overtime to maintain competition
