I’m not overly creative, but I named my River Drake Juvenile Crocodile, not only because it looks a bit like one, but the name also rhymes
I have the tallest Charr male and I’m very satisfied.
“Pillage!”
I really like the idea of skill based PvP with standarised gear. This game is the only MMORPG with a PvP system I enjoyed.
But right now you can either play elite specs or get completely destroyed.
I want to be able to make a choice what build to play, rather than be forced to go elite spec to at least have an equal chance.
Hello,
I did a bit of searching on the vast internet, but couldn’t find it.
I’m looking for the epic in-game Silverwastes soundtrack.
But I have no idea how to get it. I would throw money at the screen.
I don’t mean the “official” pieces you can find on youtube, but the music that plays while I’m in the zone. I want to have it with me at all times!
Please help ;_;
I’ve just realised that I haven’t seen that cuscene since an eternity. I completely forgot that it even exists and just accepted the lack of it!
Wow, now I really hope it gets fixed soon!
I’ve recently noticed that whenever I go to PvP lobby from open world, the game doesn’t remember which pets I had there previously.
I use two birds, but when I enter HotM I have an arctic wolf and a devourer which have the names of the birds.
When I leave the lobby, my open world pets are ok and stay the same as they were.

Yay for kitless Engineer! I want to try it myself, as I’m not too fond of the kit toggling 24/7. I wanted to go double pewstol and focus on conditions, but I’ll see how it goes as I level.
So, I wouldn’t be surprised, if before the whisper the op got, there were other players asking him/her to come out of the event area.
I admit, I had guild/whisper chat tab currently open, as I don’t want to see the weird stuff people type in map chat. Also, I didn’t see the zerg, and these people might have been too far away from me to see the /say messages.
So yes, I might have not seen them asking me to leave earlier.
After the rude whisper I also got another one just saying “get out”.
I couldn’t find a better category for the report. There was no insult targeted at me, but it did anger me, and I felt like failing on purpose is not right. General ideas of games are to win. I don’t blame the zerg for wanting to get better rewards, it’s just poor design.
Today I wanted to complete the map at last, I entered Cursed Shore and just started regular wandering to get all the stuff explored.
I saw a Pact outpost overrun by the undead and an event to defend it. I rushed in and started to pew pew at the enemies.
Seconds after that I get a whisper “Get the f out there need to fail”.
I was just shooting the undead, I did nothing to get the F part.
I backed off, even if this behaviour only encouraged me to do the opposite.
I told the player that maybe they could be nicer next time and reported them for verbal abuse, as I couldn’t think of a fitting category for such behaviour.
I don’t know what difference is there in rewards, but soon after the event failed, a huge zerg flooded the outpost, now taken by enemies.
I suggest changes are made to this, I don’t wish to receive such impolite messages simply because I stumbled across an event during my exploration.
I just want to complete the map and take part in events if I happen to see any, without having to look over my shoulder that I may be disturbing a zerg wanting to fail for better rewards.
edit:
I don’t blame the players who wanted to get better rewards.
I complain about poor event design, which offers better rewards when it fails (because I assume it gives better stuff after you retake an outpost, not defend it).

I noticed this bug, that after leaving Heart of the Mists, the equipped second weapon/offhand are carried over to PvE areas.
The offhand pistol is disabled, but I can normally swap weapons from sword to dagger on a level 2 character.
You can see that in the screenshots attached.
With two shields you become a turtle.
Well, I don’t think that it has ever happened in history of humanity that someone carried/used two shields.
In that case, I think only the one used most recently could be visible.
It’s a very interesting point, and I think it does make sense.
I think my favourite profession is the Ranger, I like pets IRL, so I picked someone who can also have a companion. Unlike minis, they are functional and normal-sized.
Plus, you can multitask with them, I can send my pet to attack a mob while I sort my bags or whisper someone lol
I also have a Guardian, a Necromancer, a Thief and an Engineer.
I like the Guardian because I can save Quaggans and spin-to-win with GS, my Necro girl is going to dress like an anime fairy, I like Thieves’ quick attacks and sick moves and the Engi can pew pew quite well with pistols, but isn’t as squishy as a Thief.
Generally I like condition-based characters, poison being my favourite.
I don’t think I will ever fully master the last three, but I have fun playing them, and it’s the most important, right?
I’m not a specialist, but whenever I think of conditions, the first class thats comes to my mind is the Necromancer. They can apply them with most if not all weapons, and the AoE with staff is really nice.
Mesmer can only really apply confusion and torment, with bleed on crit from illusions.
Necros have access to bleeding, poison, torment (DS 5) and chill, plus you can trait fear to apply damage too (but that’s normal damage). And Signet of Spite active applies a lot of conditions to your target. Plus, you can choose a trait that outgoing condition damage heals you.
But I’ve read that Necromancers aren’t that wanted in PvE (in dungeon runs etc.), because they have no real team supporting abilities, while Mesmers have a lot of utility skills.
WoW is old. If they updated the graphics, many people with old computers won’t be able to play and will quit = no $$$ for Blizzard.
Idk about the others.
My favourite condition in this game is the magnificent poison.
Because of this, I’d like to play a class that can utilise it to the max, stack insane amounts of it and just wreck mobs.
Well, at least do significant damage with it.
I have two questions regarding this:
1. Is it a good idea? Is stacking poison damage any good or will I be disappointed?
2. Which class is the best for it? I have a Ranger, a Thief, a Necromancer and an Engineer (but I’m not so fond of his kits and turrets, I prefer using two pistols).
What are your opinions and advice? Anyone running/interested in this?
At first I loved the design that reminded me of a very modern city.
But now I realise that it completely doesn’t match the time frame of the game.
I was very disappointed to see the huge lion being replaced by an empty space covered with a glass roof.
I don’t like the sea-creatures-shaped buildings.
Instead of pure white, beige/sand-ish shades could be used for walls, like it is in Divinity’s Reach.
I see the new Lion’s Arch as a city completely out of touch with Tyria’s reality. Sort of a place you go to on your summer holidays.
I have a Radeon graphics card, and yes, it is old, but everything was fine earlier today.
I logged in now, in the evening, and I have 4 FPS in towns, no matter where I go.
First of all I want to say that I haven’t played GW1.
I used to play WoW and was (and still am) interested in its lore.
GW2’s lore has a potential from what I’ve seen. But it’s presented in a silly manner. There are too many funny moments and too little serious ones.
WoW’s lore is much darker to me, despite the cartoony looks of the game.
I feel like GW2 was made as a facerolly, easy peasy leisure game, rather than a serious one.
I still like the combat mechanics and so on, but the lore aspect is hurting me.
I wonder how many people skip the cutscenes, if they ever decide to complete the personal story.
WoodenPotatoes has this nice video, speculating the possibility of different races to become playable at some point.
I love the Largos, but the entire race is based on being mysterious and withdrawn – I agree that making them playable would strip them off this, making them uninteresting.
Plus – that’s my opinion now – underwater combat mechanics are really nice in GW2, but I still don’t feel this could become equal to fighting on land in an underwater expansion. Each profession only has a choice of two weapons (engineers only have the speargun afaik), and making it generally good would require a ton of work.
There was a similar thread about Largos being playable, and someone pointed out many inconsistencies – for example, why would an aquatic race be so similar to humans, rather than fish? There was a speculation that they are connected to Orr being pushed into the ocean and while I agree that it opens up a lot of lore possibilities, I’d still rather have them as hidden assassins nobody knows much about.
I have the same issue, and also on a Ranger.
I don’t remember this happening when I played a Guardian or a Necromancer a few weeks/days ago.
The only cause I can think of is the pet, as I don’t use minions on the Necro.
I don’t want to wait for the game to end because I would probably get kicked/banned for not contributing/“afk”.
I see. Engineer really sounds fun from what you both said.
Thank you!
Hello, fellow Tyrians.
I took a longish break from the game and deleted all my old characters to have a fresh start.
Now, when I’m back, I have a hard time deciding who should be my main character.
I have a Guardian (49), a Mesmer (45), a Ranger (23) and an Elementalist and a Warrior (both not even level 20). I know they are far from 80, but I don’t want to level them just to be disappointed.
I generally prefer ranged characters, but I am also aware that they deal less damage.
I like mobility and having an ability to jump out of danger, or cc the mob and walk away.
But in the end, big damage > all.
Mesmer’s greatsword is nice, as well as general utility.
I like their spell effects and sounds, but the illusions may be tricky to manage in endgame. Is there a way to play without relying on them?
Guardian is a just a shoutbot faceroller, playing him gets boring quickly, I can just stand afk and spam mace autoattack chain. But spamming boons is ok, I feel useful ;_;
Ranger is okayish, but the pets seem to be extremely squishy. In the heat of battle the health bar of my paper pet is the least of my worries… Another “longbow noob” reporting for duty. I also run with sword/dagger.
Everyone says that you have to constantly switch attunements when playing an Elementalist, and I find it a bit discouraging – I could just play air and water all the time as I like their staff spells.
I used to have a level ~45 Warrior and ran with a rifle. But after some internet research I figured out that rifle must be really terrible now, as the only builds and guides are from years ago. This saddens me as I really like the rifle.
Thieves are squishy, and even if I like their fast-paced gameplay and cool, acrobatic moves, I don’t have the mechanic skills to effectively play one. One mistake and RIP.
It’s very challenging to play one, and it will take me ages to learn it. I’ve read that double pistol is not a good idea.
And in tough situations I panic and just press anything, lol.
I would only play a Necromancer if there was a way to be a condition-nuker, but it may be hard when every profession can apply some sort of conditions.
I’ve never played an Engineer, I don’t know how difficult the kit management is.
The steampunk theme is cool, and Charr master race!
I’m more of a solo player, but only because I don’t bother with finding a guild. I don’t really enjoy strict PvP. I don’t mind running dungeons with pug. I like zerging in WvW/EotM, but I’d also like to survive a few hits. I like the general playstyle of a wanderer randomly lending a hand here and there. I know that “selfish” professions are less wanted in organised groups (guilds).
Please help me ;c
I can’t decide on a profession and I feel like I’m playing the Sims Wars 2 with this constant rerolling.
Who is the most fantabulous and epic in the endgame? Who is preferably ranged and doesn’t get one-shot?
Can someone give me a general description of endgame for every profession, please?
What do you do when you fight mobs?
I’m having the same problem, and it seems that only GW2 has these disconnect issues.
I can watch youtube, browse the internet and play other online games and everything is fine.
The error appears randomly too – I can stand afk for a long time and nothing happens, but sometimes when I play actively I get disconnected after a few minutes…
I didn’t really know where to post it, sorry :/
I get gold-selling advertising whispers from random characters at random times.
Every time this happens, I report the sender and block the player.
The account name is always a bunch of random letters, similarly to the characters’ names. The shop-website is always the same.
It didn’t use to be so annoying, but today I got two such whispers within maybe 30 minutes.
I hope someone is working on getting to the source of these spambots, as this is getting worse :c
Same here, this must be the server. Everything else that requires internet connection runs smoothly.
