I hate to admit it, but after the many wipes that happened in my last TA story mode, I had the same “oh my god, I rather do WOW for dungeons” attitude. My issue is I can’t see what’s going on most of the time. Each dungeon that level 50 allows me to do are wipe fests. When 50 billion ability effects are flaring on the target, it’s actually hard for me to tell what’s going on. The red circles become hard for me to see and the animations of the “knock back hits hard to almost death” targets really make it frustrating to be melee.
Well, I’m having problems with the dungeons. I do appreciate Arenanet’s"differentiate from" approach to MMO dungeons, but they usually end up being a clustercuss to me. And sadly the multiple times I’ve done what level 50 enables me to do, it’s making me want to do less of them.
I ended a TA run with the comment “wow, this is like Diablo 3 inferno to melee.” The last boss encounter involves your party to fight each of race representatives for Guild Wars 2. It took us 5-7 tries to get the fight done due to the uncertainty of each attempt. Anytime we would try to get some sort of strategy, the result was somebody or me would be one shotted then we constantly have to try to rally each other or just run back. I tired to explain that it’s hard for me to see the red circles when 50 billion flourishing ability animations are going off. Playing my warrior, I’m strongest duel wielding in melee combat. Whenever I finally have a chance to get in and do damage, I get knocked back to almost death. Every-time I think I understand what to do, I well, get knocked down again. Of course I was labeled the immediate “u bad” or “learn 2 dodge” responses from my party while I was trying to explain….sigh.
The thing is, I try to dodge what I can and back out/heal when I have the chance. I love the skill involved with these things and the lack of no holy trinity, but it is still hard for me to tell what’s going on most of the time. I don’t have any FPS or internet troubles.
So if anybody has any free time, can you suggest some pointers or offer some dungeon advice? I’m willing to read and try any suggestions, because I do want to do the dungeons.

I played a warrior to level 42 utilizing the weapon swapping in group, story, and pvp play. I also used this on my thief and loved it there as well! Recently I forgot to check about other professions using it until I was level 16 with my elementalist. I found two decent daggers and was thinking “cool! I’ll set it up to switch out of my staff with the weapon swap button.”..then I finally realized it wasn’t there.
I personally thought it be nice to have the ability to free up those two inventory slots, and also using daggers is not full ranged like my staff. The ability to switch out of mid-melee to ranged would be nice instead of always having to wait till out of combat to switch my weapons.
I asked around map chat if elementalists were the only ones and I read that engineers were in the same boat. Are all ranged professions like this? Is this because we have F1 to F4 attunement skill abilities? Would this make these types of professions overpowered in PVP?
