My major concern is that server population is the most important factor in winning the match. This week my server (Dragonbrand) is matching against Jade Quarry and Crystal Desert. We have absolutely no chance of winning JQ because they simply outnumber us by a great number. It is disheartening when you see your zerg have 20s while they have upwards of 50s.
Instead of using the current matching system, they should have paird servers with similar population. Only through that can you rank the servers by better skill and strategy, not by whichever having the most numbers.
Well the way it stands now the servers who can put the most people on the field for the largest amount of time will win eventually they should get paired together to even it al out…
Finishers: It doesn’t matter if you get the “killing blow”. That’s meaningless in GW2. If you did damage you get credit and a chance at loot. Also, don’t finish if there’s more than a handful of people attacking, just auto attacking them down is faster.
Yeah I understand this but think of this scenario for a moment your roaming around solo and you run into an enemy player you fight them and down them with say 20% health left to go.. No you go and try to finish them which can be a pain whilst your doing this someone else comes along and kills you both.. I guess what I am getting at is there are to many steps to actually kill someone and well the killing part is the gratifying part for me but the finisher move is one to many barriers for me.. This also makes it impossible to get kills from keep walls when your defending..
WvW does have in-game consequences. Hover over the WvW button at the top left. See all those bonuses? They really start to become substantial at higher scores.
A few random buffs doesn’t do it for me. I want to drive the enemy from their own capital cities I want their heads on a pike out the front I want real victories and defeats.. Not some fluff numbers…[/quote]
The simple answer to running with more than 5 people (which I assume is a guild rather than a zerg?) is voice comms.
Yes of course vent helps but we need more tools for example in Warhammer there was some mods where you could put icons on top of your group members name tags to keep track of people.. With this 5 group limit if your running with say 10-15 guildies I also loose track of my guild mates since the gold colour blends into the red name tags in large fights, at the very least couldn’t they make your guild members dots on the mini map a different colour. Also whilst I’m on this point why don’t they tell you which battle ground they are in when you look in the guild roster.
Server queues are of course highly dependent on your server, time of day, and even how well your side is doing. Generally foreign border maps have the shortest queues, hit those first and then queue for your preferred map from inside.
Yeah I know this but I’m not going to wait 30min – 1 hour in queue i’ll just play something else…

For me the WvWvW has been a bit a of a flop I got an 80 engineer with exotic gear and I’m in a small be very competitive guild but there are some glaring things I really dislike about WvWvW in GW2
- Everyone looks the same the teams are mirrored and people regardless of their class pretty much look the same apart from the weapon, which for me makes it painful working out wtf your actually fighting sometimes..
- 5 man group limit with 100g cost for larger groups to me seems like a money sink to encourage people to send $$ on the game, why can’t we have 10 or 15 man groups? It’s an absolute pain staying with your group if you want to run with more then 5 people.
- When you die it is sometimes near impossible to regroup with your party sometimes you have to walk for 10minutes just to regroup if you manage to live.
- The maps are already getting stale since there is only really 2 maps.
- The whole executing thing I understand why its needed since the game doesn’t really have healers but its very annoying when you win a fight only to end up not getting the kill because someone else comes along and interrupts the finisher..
- The bag drops is just plain stupid having to run around spamming f to pick up bags, why can’t we get auto-loot in WvWvW? The game goes out of its way to make many boring logistical tasks easy but they put this mechanic in? Also the loot drops are pathetic.
- The WvWvW end game to me seems very week and not very epic this whole getting points for holding things and ending up the top of the ladder is all very academic to me, I’d rather see end game with real in game consequence.
- Keep fights are very linear and boring zerg fests this is something that could have been really interesting but they really didn’t do anything original with it..
- The best WvWvW gear is acquired via PVE mechanics which is a real pita if you don’t really enjoy PVE and purchased the game mainly for its WvWvW content this is a real pain..
- And lastly the server queue business annoys me to the limit seems to low and in prime time the queues can be very long..
- Edit Oh and one last thing… PVE MOBS HAVE NO PLACE in WvWvW
Anyway that is my list of grievances….
