It doesn’t stop “petting zoos”. They are just staked to the ground now!
It makes no sense to immobilze spirits. Rangers are vulnerable inside short range melee distances and when not able to move. You trigger your defensive spirits outside that range. Inside… it’s too late!
Better realism? Watching my formerly animated dolphin spirits sit like logs underwater does not seem realistic to me! Rangers are “ranged” fighters. I do not understand the logic of handicapping moving spirits capable of affording the ranger some close range protection prior to entering the danger zone.
I am totally disappointed how this game seems to be degrading in the name of “balancing”. I am seriously considering uninstalling and returning to GW1. I hope it has not been “balanced” beyond recognition since last I played.
The new LA is lovely, but I personally think old LA had more of a unique personality to it. My favorite part of both GWs games is the fantastic scenery and terrain.
That said the whole “Sylvari-twisted vine-jungle terrain” theme is starting to wear a little thin for me possibly because of the living world’s heavy use of it. Now the expansion will be jungle based as well. I’m not complaining… just suggesting that mixing things up like the old expansions use to might be worth considering.
I would buy lunch for the design team to come up with a new area like Pre-Searing Ascalon from GW1 in all its autumn splendour.

Since the June 23rd update, my formerly mobile ranger spirits are now stationary also with no trait or specialization method that I can see to have them follow as they use to .
I am quite frightened now that in the next update my pet hawk will be replaced with a stuffed non-moving version. She does do condition damage after all so I think I can see her eyes glazing over even now!
I have been playing GW2 since it was released and have seen many original features nerfed or removed. There was multiple food buffs that worked over multiple attributes reduced to one food buff and then consumable potions handicapped by 30 minute usage timers. Now 5 flexible trait lines are reduced to 3 static ones! These are not welcome changes for veteran players who go a little deeper than the button mashing herd. I suspect that nature uses bio diversity for a reason and it makes for a more interesting world that does not require micro balancing of every aspect. Can I reload GW2 version 0001 please!
This bug is a major handicap for ranger characters as it renders enemy kiting almost impossible. Also you are not healing if your pet is attacking even if you are not, so this is a major handicap to health regeneration for ranger characters. The pet will always attack on your initial hit so to switch quickly from one target to another, it is hit- guard-avoid combat for each new target! Truly terrible.

On further inspection, ranger pet “avoid combat” seems to work if you click it after your initial attack to call your pet to retreat. This is still quite impractical. Please fix this nasty bug.
Absolutely terrible. I believe that if the developers looked at the usage data more closely, the users who play regularily, because they love the game, make small gems store exchanges constantly. Updating this conveience to accomodate only new or occasional users that drop large blocks of real cash rather than the core GW2 community does not make sense. Fixing something that was not broken is a waste of developers effort. Sorry for the rant, but that is what people do when misguided “improvements” happen.
