Guild Wars 2

So I’ve been playing GW2 on my laptop for over a year with a steady 20-30 FPS. It isn’t anything amazing but it makes the game playable.

However 3 months ago every time I would play GW2 or any other game from steam, the game would then stutter and have insane FPS drops to about 3-10 FPS which would never end. As a result I upgraded to Windows 10 hoping it would the issue out and it did, for about a day.

24 hours later the stuttering returned. I then did a clean wipe of my laptop, reinstalled and within 24 hours although the FPS was at 15-20 and the sound would get static sometimes I decided it was playable and that was that.

Last night I decided to wipe my laptop again, this time installing the 64 bit client for my laptop (which is 64-bit) and the game ran perfectly at 20 FPS.

Until today where just as I was about to start playing again I would be met by a sudden FPS drop down to 3-5FPS and the log in music playing in a slow motion and the sound of static and crackling for about 15 seconds. Upon which the game would return to 20 FPS only to repeat the FPS drop.

Why has this happened and what can I do to solve this?

If your system drive was nearly full, Windows will try to compensate which will wreck your performance. Other than that, you probably had something in the background that was heavily using the drive.

Assuming you’re expecting something much higher, ensure that your GPU is in the correct slot. People putting their GPU in the slower secondary slot has been far too common of a problem here, which results in high end computers seeing low FPS.

Hey, so I’m playing on my laptop so I don’t think I shift the graphics card around. Also how would I clear my drive?

Solution: I upgraded to Windows 10 and it solved the issue.

So I’ve been playing GW2 on my laptop at a modest 30 fps for over a year and today I suddenly get sound stutter and low fps going down to 10 when I load into the game. It’s unplayable.

No matter how low I turn the graphics down the issue still persists.

I can’t imagine why this would randomly happen to me? Does anyone have any experience with such issues?

I have just one question. I love to role-play in the world of Tyria and the personal story has been fantastic for that. I’ve held off from finishing the personal story mission against Zhaitan since the creation of this thread in hope that I could do it solo. Would I be advised to wait a little while longer? I’m not asking for a date, just a very crude speculation, will it be two months more? Half of that?

I just want to know so I can decide where to go with my role-playing.
