Can you tell me what pauldrons these are? They look like banded but seem to sit much higher on the shoulders. That could just be the difference between the male and female version, though.
Thanks so much!
After playing since launch, I find that I’m still not able to get used to all of the particle effects and the general chaos of the fights. I’ve turned the effects down but that hasn’t actually helped much. I just honestly have a really difficult time reading the battles.
Another issue contributing to this is that the avatar silhouettes aren’t that clear, especially with the red and blue. You can generally tell heavy versus lighter armors, but class silhouettes are generally tough to pick out, I find. I tend to think a warrior is a guardian or an ele is a mesmer too late, lol.
I come from WAR where I didn’t really have the latter issue, though the former could at times be present.
Anyway, I’m no pvp beast and really am more casual than anything else. But I bought the game for the sPVP and am at the point of just sort of wanting to shelve it. Any thoughts or help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!
There you go.
A little addendum to my above post. . . I was primarily referring to my experiences in sPVP, which is also what Silven’s guide is for. InWvWvW, I do frequently find myself pretty bored and sadly will probably create another toon just for WvW. Bummer because I tend to really like to focus on one main.
@Svarty
I’m sorry to hear you’re not enjoying the class. You mentioned that you’re getting hit too hard, but the sword and focus, for example, gives you a total of four blocks (if you include F3) and two blinds in a single rotation. That’s six misses from a mob, player, etc. I know that you know this, but I’m trying to figure out how you’re getting hit.
Maybe check out Silven’s builds on Guildwars2guru? They’re on youtube, as well. That community has been around for three years or so and has a ton of information while these forums are just starting up (not to imply that people don’t know their class here, just that there’s more info over at Guru). His most recent build has made my Guardian basically unkillable (up to a difficult 3v1) with burst that is absolutely monstrous.
Are you talking tPVP? Because no one will take them in there (generally speaking, of course, and just my experience on my server) because they have to go glass canon to get that damage and are just too easily countered and get eviscerated too easily. My guilds won’t play them (which is unfortunate becuase I love mine) and I almost never see them in tPVP.
Realizing this is pretty off-topic, apologies. However, it applies somewhat because if I’m Frenzied and my HB misses, I’m respwaning, 7 times out of ten. Their health pool is large because they’re generally pushed into straight dps which is squishier for them because their utility is not preferred to that of other classes (again, speaking generally).
“So you’re basically saying that the guardian is the only profession in this agme with no viable, dun and satisfying ranged capabilities and only useful when they buy arrow carts or wait until their 30+ second cooldowns are available again?
I don’t know how people could design something like that. The devs did such an outstanding job, but didn’t see this coming?
Absolutely working as intended. If our ranged options were improved we’d be borderline op. Smite and the scepter and staff 1 aren’t great but are plenty for a class that has so much utility and so many defensive options and ways in which to keep oneself and one’s realmmates alive. I wouldn’t hold out for Anet to change our ranged any time soon.
There are tons of threads on GW2guru re: Guardian and ranged options, though, so you’re certainly not alone in wishing there were more for the class. I, too, admittedly get bored sometimes in keep defenses but I still believe that any other ranged option would be imba. Just my .$02.
Hyeena, mind revealing what setup you run? No builds necessary if you don’t want to go to the hassle. Just looking for viable HB alternatives that, when I find a tPVP team I’m going to stay with, I’ll be able to work.
Much appreciated, thanks.
Not picking sides, just curious about the dynamic. Guildwars2guru.com is filled with posts in the Warrior forums about how the Warrior brings very little to the table in tPVP now that most classes have figured out how to counter many of their builds. Many people over there (many, not all, of course) have dropped their warrior in favor of other classes.
Also, in terms of dungeons, there seems to be a lot of feeling over there that they’re not really wanted nearly as much as other classes provide better utility while providing as much damage as the Warrior.
Yet in these forums people seem to feel that the Warrior is doing very well in pvp (though I’ve only seen posts regarding sPvp, not tPvp), though I haven’t seen any posts yet specifically regarding their performance in dungeons.
I will say this, I’ve applied to two guilds on my server and both said they would take me if I mained a different class and made my Warrior my alt. I said no, as I’ve just started the game, enjoy the Warrior, and don’t care for that type of guild policy.
But I find the whole dynamic curious. . . love over here, general dissatisfaction over there.
Thoughts?
Thanks and have fun in-game.
