3D sculpting is still sculpting! Unless they didn’t actually sculpt the 3D model in which case ignore me for I am an idiot.

haha i did in a way sculpt it though using zbrush is quite peculiar compared to real sculpting
and yes very expensive! it did indeed cost around 20000 dollars and its crazy considering how quickly this technology moves on

Also rytlock riding rytlock plush toy.
Just because

I guess i went out and made one for myself!

(i hope the images aren’t too big)
i’m going to attach more too this post! i’m not the best at posts.

Ever since Beta i’ve loved Rytlocks character. I even received the cuddly toy as a present but decided to take it one step further by making a posable action figure.
This may seem strange at first but i’m actually learning to make toys and products as a job and am currently in my final year of university. The point of me making this was to take a character that i particularly love the style and personality of and recreate it to a level that i was happy with.
I’ve been quite nervous to post this up, i think over the time of making it i grew quite attached to this project and it’s become quite a personal little thing. (and there will only ever be one!)
He’s about 25cm tall (and a bit wobbly on the legs) but hes a heavy toy and very sturdy (probably like the real character).

Like a lot of things, he started life as an armature on my laptop.
I usually use Zbrush to make most of my figures and other programs for the joint addition. He took about 5 days to make as i found his slightly peculiar body shape hard to add joints in that would be suitable for a real physical toy (not falling over on his face).

Next thing you know, you have a little monster sitting on your desk slightly sticky and in pieces. Well its not quite that simple but converting a model to print and then cleaning it is very tedious and gross. All his parts alone took around 45 hours just to print out. He was printed on an Objet24.

Then you Spray and glue that sucker.

Once you’ve got your primed and slightly…. stable Rytlock, then you just paint him! This took about a week on and off with mostly airbrushing and hand painting for things like eyes.
The base in the final full image is the GW2 logo, laser cut from Mirrored red acrylic, and opal white acrylic.

Sorry for all the images, i couldn’t totally work out how to add multiple attachments.
But for more work i have a blog with more images on:

Next will be his sword, i haven’t quite worked that one out yet but the flame will probably be tinted resin. but right now i need a break!
I hope you guys like him.

Also i apologies but i cant get images to work in my post i’m not totally great at this, for larger images check the wordpress blog!
