Hello Gaile and co. This is 121221-000791 again.

I waited more than a week or so (I think) and got back the ability to get back to the Fort Aspenwood server. That was the main issue. I’m gonna delete all my characters and start all over with everything…so may you please rescind my order number. Thanks.

AwwGasm I think I’m thinking the same thing as you are…it’s understandable that Gaile and others are working as hard as they can to resolve issues…but I do agree that the support is essentially…frustating as of so far. I’m just wondering if it’s coming to this that I should just forgo the system reset and just play the game, lousy account and all, and forgo the consequences….honestly. It seems that a lot of us do the right thing by following the instructions, but when nothing happens the complaints will ensure.

Skinbar – I’m actually in a similar boat as you – I was hacked a few days ago, and as such, am not touching/playing my account until it is rectified. This has been going on for essentially 2-3 days. To be honest I’m not really not too sure what to do on my end – considering that Anet said that they will do a reset (is that the correct term?) to my pre-hacked state, I’m literally nervous in logging in and playing. I’ve also posted on related forum posts as well…please don’t assume that I’m on a better boat than you are.

I’m really, really afraid that they might have reduced staff because of the holiday season…am wondering if this was a pinpointed atttack by hackers to hit Anet, etc while they have the least staff. Sort of like having a castle with reduced amounts of defenders.

My passwords has been changed. Twice. Hope that’s enough for now. Been that way since…roughly 4-5 days ago?

Might as well ask this question here – I was also checking my “Authorized Networks” in my security section, and I saw 4 addresses there. 2 were from my area (which are legit) and 2 are from CN (presuming China)? How do I de-authroize the CN numbers?

The main thing which irks me right now is the fact that there is a lack of information/communiction from the corporate side in regards to these incidents. It’s nice that they set up an Authencitator app for smartphones, but that does not cover all affected players, (they may not all use smartphones, just regular phones) Like most people here this is the first time ever I had my account hacked.

I am suspecting…and hoping that it isn’t true…that maybe a bunch of support staff are out due to the holiday season? And the rest who may be left are literally doing investigations on the accounts which were hacked within the last week or so. There seemed to be an uptick on the incidents recently…timed for the holiday season. This does not bode well for GW2 at the moment.

I’m just curious for now – there seemed to be an uptick in the amount of hacked accounts in the last few days (during the Winterday events). It seemed like the incidents literally exploded with the last few days, and all from the same country (ie China). Is this something that Anet is looking into? Was the door to more hacking open because of the change in Password length (or whatever that post was about) recently?

Believe me, mate, I do feel the same way. After a stress-filled day as a govt. contractor, it definitely pays off to relax on GW2. That, and whacking people playing tennis. Just do something else for a while..heck, read a book, play some PS3, talk on your phone with your girlfriend…hopefully both of us will get favorable results from Anet sooner or later. Just stressing over one thing will NOT make the world move faster.

Well…reposting it multiple times isn’t gonna make the clock go faster….especially if you’re reposting it at hours at a time. However, a concern to me is that there is not much communication between Arena and their customers regarding this issue. Also, a curious thing being, are there any staff there right now at their GW2 offices to fix problems, or are they out for the holiday season?

Another thing for TheLunaticDawn: This is very important to a lot of us, yes…but don’t you think you’re sounding extremely desperate? Calm down for a bit, take a deep breath, dude! Others like myself and Titan Cronus are in the same boat as you…we’re not going ballistic over this.

I see…so the issue is not the restoration itself, but them investigating at which timeframe to reset? I guess that seems fair…speaking of which, Titan, I saw from some of your other posts that you were hacked before, how long did it take you to have your issue resolved?

Thanks Titan. The only thing which bugs me right now is the fact that it is uncertain on when things would be resolved. If they could do some daily feedback? Or if possible a bi-daily feedback on the situation it would be nice. Granted, it is true that the support staff would be resolving other cases as well, so time is of course limited.

The problem with waiting for a few days is the fact that I can’t celebrate the Winterday celebrations with my guild in Fort Aspenwood. If it takes a few days, can the Guild Wars 2 support team at least let us know a timeframe on how long exactly would it take? A more concrete answer would be most beneficial to those of us who were hacked (myself included – I was transferred to a different server, and my inventory was essentially used for a materials/item bank – first time being hacked, ever, in any game). Letting us know if it’s 1-2 days or a week or a month would be most helpful to us.

Good afternoon.

Recently my account was hacked by an unknown party, and I had contacted support. They told me via e-mail that they would revert my account back to the pre-hacked state (ie: 12/05/2012). I have been waiting for about roughly 2 days so far for the incident to be resolved, but so far nothing has happened. A few questions:

- How long does it usually take for these kinds of incidents to be resolved? The first few e-mails back were done promptly but the resolving of the issue in full is long in coming. Essentially stopped playing because of fear of deleting any progress in the meantime in game.

- The support staff also advised me to get a Guild Wars 2 Authenticator for added security. Unfortunately I do not have a phone which can use that kind of application. Are there any other ways to add security besides the Authencitator?

Many thanks for your help, am hoping for a speedy response.
