Hidden 5% TP fee

Yes, tpcalc. However, why not just put the 5% in the ingame calculator. I am not saying that this is exactly gamebreaking, more annoying and a bit offputing. Anytime you can keep the player from having to go out of game to get info, that is to the good.

Plus, when Arenanet went with an ingame cash shop as their revenue generator, they put themselves in the position of having to be very careful to not make the players feel that they are being pushed in its direction too much. With all the controversy about drop rate nerfs, etc, this is just something they could easily correct to show they are on the side of the angels, so to speak.

I am sure this is a topic that has been posted on before, but I would like to make a comment on it. To start though, I would like to say that I absolutely LOVE this game. It is by far the most fun I have had in an MMO since I began playing MMOs in vanilla WOW.

However, not showing the 5% listing fee in the projected profit box is just plain annoying and cheesy. Yes I am aware of the fee. I know how to use a game’s Wiki to get relevant information to make informed decisions.

The problem for me is: what is the point of having a box that shows some of the information but not all of it? It makes it very easy to forget the 5% fee when I am listing items for sale. This is especially annoying because a lot of the profit margins on the TP are razor thin. It also makes me feel like Arenanet is trying to pull a fast one on me by not showing all of their cards.

I really like what this company is trying to do with this game. I think they are brave to try and take MMOs in a new direction. So come on Arenanet, don’t shake my faith in you by not including all the information on a tooltip that I use to make important decisions in the game. Either include the 5% fee in the profit box, or don’t put any of the fees in there. Putting one fee in and not including another just feels disingenuous.
