For solo play I would agree, but the problem with pure cond dmg in any kind of pve group play is the stack limit of 25. Nothing to worry about when solo, but it makes dmg in group very unreliable atm.

My current build, with a mix of pow/pre/crit and pow/pre/cond gear when using mainly D/D, but P/D works very well with this setup as well with even more focus on bleeds.
Enough power/crit to nuke things down quickly, while at the same time your bleeds etc will put out good dmg.
Very good survivability and mobility, and works great for both wvw and pve (I dont have enough experience in spvp to say how this build/gear setup stack up against other options).
Regarding pve, and dungeons to be specific, you have to be comfortable in staying in melee range on bosses, and I know many thiefs that dont like that.
Most tend to go all out one way or another. But I really enjoy the diversity of this build/gear setup. If interested I can post complete gear setup and stats.
