New Dueling GM Trait:
Destructive Dissipation- Clones deal damage to nearby foes when they are killed.
This should be able to crit (since its in the Precision+Crit Damage Line) but the base damage number should be calculated/lowered to compensate for that. And since clones are always dying in PvE, this trait gives Power mesmers a way to benefit from their dead clones.
This would be amazing for hybrid clone-on-death builds/Power PU builds and I find it a real shame that none of the new GMs benefit any form of clone-on-death builds. Dueling would be the perfect line to place this trait in because it’s only 10 pts away from Deceptive Evasion, would work in a 10/30/30/0/0 PU mesmer build, and as mentioned before it matches well in a Precision and Crit. Damage line over a Power and Cond. Duration line.

On the damage on clone death, this is the post I wrote before and I would kill for that trait to be made.
I believe that my build below is one of the easiest and funnest Mesmer build out there. It’s a cloneondeath build which is like PU but focuses on getting as many illusions out as possible and letting them do the damage while you dodge for days hiding among your clones and using stealth shortly to break target.
Try out this build.

I use it both for PvP and PvE it is the one all-time build I always go back to on any/all profession to have fun on. The Focus is there because of AoE capabilities and utility but OH Sword works better for single target DPS.

Megaservers Are Amazing for bringing all the various servers together for HotM Racial cities and open world areas. This has brought new life (or the illusion of it) to the game. But there isn’t any option for people in large guilds like myself to create our own places just for our 150+ people. If we can have something like this, it will greatly assist our members who do Tequatl Daily and All guild missions on the weekend =3

UPDATED: As of April 15th
Changes include:
1. Superior Sigil of Force -> Superior Sigil of Generosity
Reasons for change:
1. Generosity OP! But seriously, Generosity will provide extra condi-clear while transferring said condi to the enemy. And with the implementation of the new PvP system, we are standing at a really high crit rate of 68% >.< But that’s just means that bleed proc, generosity procs, and criticals (but of course xD) are more likely to happen.
NEW BUILD VARIATION:
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fhAQRAsd7ansISna2oGmqB3aKp0YMVOn6K0dGpCosdUOA-TJxHwA72fQ8JBAwTAgZZAA
Changes from main build include:
1. Lyssa Runes -> Adventurer Runes
2. Domination III: Empowered Illusions -> Inspiration IV: Mender’s Purity
3. Both Offhand Sigils -> Generosity Sigils
Reasons for change:
1. With the change (MEGA NERF) to Lyssa Runes and the +50 Power added to Adventurer Runes, I am going back to the rune set I’ve always preferred. The over-the-top precision from Lyssa Runes, loss of 5% Cond. Duration, and huge nerfage of the 6-slot makes Lyssa less powerful but still viable. Adventurer Rune’s addition though does gives a huge bonus of +100 power, +175 Cond. Damage, and 50% endurance on heal which is mega ideal for a hybrid clone-death rune.
2. With the removal of Lyssa Runes, there is a new need for more cond. removal so Mender’s Purity was added to the build at the cost of 10% cond. duration and 15% illusion damage. But Mender’s Purity and Adventurer Runes synergy gives the benefit of phantasms recharged, two condis removed, and an extra dodge all on heal.
3. Another way for condi-removal/transference that has been added is the addition of Generosity Sigils to both Offhand Sigil slots because like I said before Generosity Sigils OP!
My Notes: This build is still in testing phase at the moment but so far I’ve been having a blast with it. With the boosted effects for heal, I’m constantly checking to make sure I’m low on endurance only for it to fill up instantly a second later. Stray condis are getting removed more often but burst necro, engi, and warrior condis are a problem (which can basically be solved by carefully playing your dodges). I do find myself still expecting full condi-clear on Mass Invisibility but I will get used to it xD

Can you share some vids too?
Unfortunately, I am running Guild Wars 2 on a Dell laptop and my video capturing prowess has been limited to scene by scene action causing my in-game performance to be sub-par (or basically my computer sucks xD). On the same hand, you will unlikely be able to spectate this specific build as most clone-on-death people will be running the PU build or a variation of it (I’ve tried couple PU builds for days but always returned to my old ways).
You can though find me PvPing in-game in the meanwhile (since PvE content is a bit stale ATM). This will most likely be in a Skyhammer match because I can’t resist using my mesmer “skills” there. Note I did not say tricks because being pulled or pushed off the edge is one of the main goals for the map and anyone who says otherwise should “jump off a cliff if your told to” ;D

Why don’t you play with shattered concentration in PvP?
Well when I play a shatter mesmer, I really feel exposed once all of my clones are gone. With this build I really just get to hide among all my exploding clones and once I’m spotted, I pop an invis and start it all over again =3
EDIT: Woops just figured you meant shatters and not a specific trait. Well, Shattered Concentration is focused on shatters (which is usually a counter-play for this build) and I feel that the +10 seconds of cripple with Null Field will ensure enemy boons are stripped thoroughly.

UPDATED: As of March 26th
Changes include:
1. Sword OH -> Focus
2. Adventurer Runes -> Lyssa Runes
3. Phantasmal Fury -> Desperate Decoy
4. Berserker Jewel -> Carrion Jewel
Reasons for changes:
1. I’ve found that iWarden works much better than iSwordsman in stacking bleeds and provides greater defensive capabilities (the same applies for the Temporal Curtain vs. Illusionay Riposte in terms of disrupts)
2. While Adventurer Rune is the epitome and ideal runeset for a hybrid clone-on-death build, the condition removal of Lyssa rune is extremely powerful and helps with the poor condi-removal of the build (plus the extra 10% cond. duration is pretty sweet).
3. Truthfully, the bleed-on-crit with Phantasmal Fury is usually only a 1-2 stack difference and the direct damage provided is not as optimal as the defensive capabilities of Desperate Decoy (it’s also an extra clone to apply another set of clone-on-death conditions).
4. With the addition of Lyssa Runes, the build is sitting on too much precision with 65% crit chance (50% is what I would prefer it could be at), so Carrion Jewel is the best replacement jewel for a hybrid stat with a little bit of vitality.

PLAY STYLE:
The focus of this build is not to shatter unless for stomping and counter-stomping. Using Mind Wrack for spiking and Cry of Frustration for confusion-stacking is still good but will leave you with less clones most of the time. Generally you’ll be using both sets of weapons 50 & 50 percent of the time. With the sigils of energy you’ll pretty much have dodge available to you at all times allowing for a constant 3-clone up time. Illusionist’s Celerity (our MOST holy mesmer trait) makes sure that one of our weapon clones, phantasms, and utilities illusions are always primed to be used.
Each clone that dies will apply Cripple 4s, Confusion 4s, and a random pick of Weakness 4s, 3 Bleeds 6.5s, or 3 Vulnerabilitys 6.5s. This is ALOT of conditions from 1 clones exploding. But, your going to have dozens of clones exploding all the times thanks to your weapon skills and all the clones produced from your Deceptive Evasion (remember this also includes your phantasms that get killed)! The torment and confusion from the scepter also add to the crazy conditions that you’ll be applying.
This is only the condition aspect of the build we’re talking about here. When it comes to our power though, we may not be as scary as a shatter mesmer but those crazy condition-clearing classes will be surprised to find out they aren’t as invulnerable as they think they’ll be. What many mesmer learn is that our condition builds and skills are much more reliant on power than expected like iWarlock, scepter auto-chain, Confusing Images, and iDuelist. While it may seem like Sword/Focus is our power set, Scepter/Pistol itself packs just as big of a punch in terms of direct damage through Confusing Images and iDuelist. The same can be said about S/F as a condition set because sword clones are much better at proccing bleeds-on-crit and iWarden will do the same except in an defensive AoE.
UTILITIES:
Any utility (depending on your preference) can be swapped out for:
Mirror Images: because there’s no such things as too many clones for this build.
Decoy: is almost mandatory for this build with the target loss, clone, and stunbreak!
Blink: for those who want a nice escape and gap-closer.
Signet of Domination: for more Cond. damage and an on-demand stun.
Illusionary Disenchanter: for condition clear and boon removal plus it counts as a clone.
Phantasmal Defender: for the tankiness.
Null Field: for the aoe cond. clease and boon remov. plus its a combo field (IDuelist adds more stacks of confusion and you can get chaos armor off it with sword #3)
Feedback: for the combo field and the aoe reflect (enemies will be constantly crippled and will have to rely on range more so this is a great counter)
PROS:
1. One of the easiest and funnest Mesmer/all-time builds to play!
2. Trades passive defense (Toughness,Vitality) for active defense(Dodging), Cond. Damage, and Direct Damage.
3. Massive control potential with great damage output.
4. Constantly reapplied conditions.
5. Tons of stun-breaks!
6. Lots of dodge!
7. Don’t have to worry about wasted clones (there are none).
8. Easily one-on-one (sometimes 1v2) with most professions in PvP.
CONS:
1. Doesn’t work well with being ranged (clones aren’t prone to always be on top of enemies).
2. Experienced players will be able to spot you.
3. Spike damage is the main damage threat to this build (THIEVES, Thou art the bane of my existence!)
4. More enemies means more condis applied but less clones remaining to hide behind.
5. Lacks multiple ways to clear conditions.
6. Can be a hassle sometimes to chase down fleeing enemies (which is what they’ll usually be doing)
7. Spike damage is limited and is traded for control unlike Mantra-phantasms and shatter builds.

“No I don’t want all my sexy clones to shatter!”
Whenever I prepare to do battle with my foes I hate to look at those four buttons “primed” to destroy my precious minions. No, I want to make the most out of them. Sure the shatters do provide great utility. But at what cost? To see all of my clones disappear leaving me to fend for myself? But leaving them unshattered only for my enemies to butcher my mini-army leaves almost as bad an aftertaste. Well not any more with this build!
This build is focused on being a Clone Factory, mass-producing mindless minions to do battle. But what’s the point of bushels full of minions without a sweet self-destruct. What was that? Your saying I’m being hypocritical? No my fellow mesmers, I am not talking about those accursed four buttons. I am talking about clone-SPAMMING!
By using the Crippling Dissipation, Confusing Combatants, and Debilitating Dissipation traits, one can get the most “bang” out of their buck by recycling their clones for new ones, killing the old ones, and stacking debuffs + damages to their enemies. That added with lower illusion cooldown traits lets you dishes out tons of clones leading to more control and damage. Unfortunately the biggest downside to this build is that it does not work as well with the range-mesmers. Sorry. But who cares! I LOVE going around duking it out as a close-range spellcaster creating absolute chaos on the field and NOBODY will tell me otherwise.

Hey there Helios,
I’ve tried to find a place for the greatsword in one of these builds but it looks like it really doesn’t fit anywhere. It does well that gs #2 will put the clone on top of the enemy and the iBerserker also keeps close to them as well. But, there wasn’t a place for it in the cond build b/c it’s too power reliant. While it might work in the hybrid build, s/s is better suited as the power weapon set with its greater cloning potential and do to the fact the sword clones will chase the enemy. But, like you said, gs is really on the rise and I was really hoping to find a good niche for it in the clone on-death builds. The best place for it would have to be switching it out for s/s.
Hey guys, I’m adding the condition specific build. It works like the main one but makes use of a different set of tools i.e. staff instead of dual swords. Credit goes to Keenlam’s Clone Spammer Build for the base of the build.
While you will lose the extra dodge on heal and extra interrupt of sword #4, you make up for it with the tankiness of the staff abilities. After testing this build for awhile, its just as fun to play (with less clones and awesome explosions) while being much more viable at Tpvp.
Cry of Frustration also is the best shatter to use with this build even with on-death traits cause you still generate a ridiculous amount of clones. On the down side your clones wont chase enemies to hell like they did with the sword but playing like a clone and retreating from attacks that come for you solves that problem making this a very good point holding build.
EDIT:
Changed the build to include Mirror Images over Blink
Changed Illusionary Elasticity (Illusions VIII) for Compounding Power (Illusions III)
Changed Phantasmal Fury (Dueling II) for Desperate Decoy (Dueling V)
Reasons for change:
With the addition of staff to this build, Blink is really redundant (esp. since it has no added effect like thief or ele blinks) and Mirror Images helps to make up for the clone production that s/s provided while still having an extra stun-break.
Illusions VIII only applies bounce for staff #1 (not including staff clone autos) so Illusions III was taken over it. Phantasmal Haste (Illusions X) is also a viable choice but better suited for those who stay on the s/p over the staff.
While Phantasmal Fury is a good choice to increase iDuelist’s bleeds applied, it doesn’t help much with increasing iWarlock’s power unlike how it does with the main build’s iSwordsman. Desperate Decoy helps contribute both to your survivability and conditions applied (and because invis ttly makes anyone rage xD)
(edited by lolevy.7423)
Well to help you optimize, I don’t know why youre running sword/sword on a condition clone death build, other than for the fact it looks cool.
a much more useful choice would be staff or simply changing the offhand to torch, other than that, while the trait distribution provides clone uptime, it may not be the best way to spend your traits but its not too bad imo, just not something I would think of.
Stat wise, itsa waste to use the iduelist with carrion, you’d get so much more bleeding out of rabid.
You also have 0 condition removal which will make free kills to necromancers and many engineers and general group spam fights. I don’t really like your runes much, so I’d change them to krait/afflicted or undead or something like that.
Well first off, this is a hybrid build so carrion and adventure following in that path. Sword clones melee so they chase after enemies so the cond. are applied more often which makes them quite awesome (and your right it is an awesome looking set =3). But I really wanted the focus of the build to focus on making more and more clones and making sure they got the cond. on enemies.
But, I found I do have trouble with cond. and should prob go with null field as a ultility to switch out and your weapon and rune choices do make for an awesome cond. build I should try implementing.
Trait wise this is a carbon copy of Keenlam’s Clone Spammer build…. You use different weapons, and try to optimize on power…. which…? Why?
However yes this build has been explored and is nothing new really.
I’ve recently returned to mesmer PvP and wanted to try out the build above. And yes I see that the type of build has been thoroughly worked on and greatly improved overtime. But the one who originally came up with this build is myself all the way back at the start of September 2012.

Well there’s the cat pet, but I don’t recall if that was offered before.
So day 1 of the amazing sale and we get a cat mini…
Yep this does not bode well for my future Sclerite Pistol
Recently I’ve been taking large damage from low level mobs I used to take down easily without having to worry that much about my health to getting wasted to less then half my life from a couple mobs or one veteran mob by one attack. It seemed as though I was taking damage like I had the Frailty Gambit on outside the arena. This problem seem to pretty much occur after I had try to fight Deadeye Dunwell in the Queen’s Guantlet with a Frailty and Squeamish Gambit on. If anyone else seems to have that problem please post below so we can get noticed.
EDIT: I’ve been testing this against a veteran aggressive drake in Gendarren (Im a lvl 80 Theif who has always been using berserker armor) and its regular auto-attack hits for a third of my health and its fire breath if I stand in it will down me from 100% health. This is VERY abnormal and recently evident.

While I’d understand the Animal Endless Tonic could be sold on the Gem Store at a price, I still think that at best the Endless Funiture and Forest tonics should only be made sellable on the Trading Post or they would lose their exclusivity.
