Does GW2 Allow You To Use Paypal Credit?

Wanted to buy the new expansion using Paypal credit, but not sure if GW2 allows it. I know you can use Paypal, but usually before you hit submit you have to confirm the Paypal method, it doesn’t seem as though I will be able to do that.

Has anyone else used Paypal credit before with GW2?

When you start a Ranger, shouldn’t there be a control window above your 1-5 skills? I cannot find one and cannot seem to be able to figure out what key may bring it back.

Are you sure you are in the hairstyles option section? You have to go past the first options, below the faces options to get to hair.

I’m positive.

I am trying to make a Norn Ranger and when I get to choosing hair style, it’s the same when in each option. I went and chose Norn Thief to see if the same would happen, and while the hairstyle is different, it’s the same one for each hair option for Thief.

Has anyone else encountered this before?

Launcher: Connection Errors Detected?

I uninstalled the game for a couple months because I had stopped playing, but reinstalled it today and I am now getting the above error.

I have done a flush/renew DNS command, I uninstalled Avast and not of it seemed to help the issue out at all. I don’t have any other security programs running at this time.

I am unable to connect my desktop directly to my router/modem because of where the router/modem is located in relation to my computer (ahh the joys of living in an apartment). Essentially, the only place where I have an internet connection is in our small living room and it is behind our couch. Our TV which sits opposite of the cable line (we do not have cable TV) is bolted to the wall for safety reasons and our toddler. So we have the modem/router sitting up on our china cabinet which is central in our apartment.

All other games that I have installed work, as does surfing the web. I have not messed with the settings in the router/modem since uninstalling GW2 and I had been able to log in briefly on the launcher earlier, but didn’t play the game as I had something else that needed to be done.

Not sure what else to do.

*oh and I know that my video drivers are oldish, but the newer ones don’t play nice with Firefox and my video card. These seem to be the last ones that are stable with Firefox running.

Wait to craft or craft while leveling?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Your choice really, you can advance your toon and bank any mats you save, or you can craft slowly at the same time and level both your toon and your crafting, as long as you don’t use crafting to artificially level your toon you can control both and advance as you feel the desire. Keep in mind though that you can only have two crafting disciplines active at the same time on any given character and there are 8 crafting disciplines.

You’ll really have to hold yourself back leveling if you play very much, you get xp for just about everything except logging on and logging off and the levels come rather fast in normal game play.

I have noticed that. Wish there was a way to turn off experience.

I ask this because I am big on it’s the journey, not the destination when it comes to video games. So I do not like rushing through the levels and prefer to take my time.

So would I be better off waiting to craft?

Can I melee when I need to with this build?

From the looks of what was said in your linked post, that answer would be a no.

sure you can, the whole build is based upon melee in mind. Just make sure that whatever you take on, can be killed within 9 seconds. Or you are doomed

I would prefer a little more time than that…lol.

I went looking through the different builds and couldn’t find one to my liking, but then I’m not even really sure exactly what it is that I am looking for.

I am looking for a build that has a decently powered pet, but also allows the Ranger to melee when needed.

Can someone point me to a build like that, or give me some ideas where to start putting points?

edit: I am also looking to use a sword in my main-hand and dagger in off-hand.

I am trying to log in after making a character to play and it keeps telling me that it is unable to connect to the log in server. I am connected to the internet just fine as evidenced by posting on these forums.

I’m on Sorrows Furnace.

Is there a way to check the status of the log in server?

Ok, I wasn’t sure.

Another question if I may?

Can you get the pet to attack without hitting the attack command, maybe something like assist on your target automatically or at least attack the first thing that attacks you?

I am somewhat new to Guild Wars 2 and I am finding adjusting to everything that can be done a bit distracting.

So I am hoping to find a guild that doesn’t mind new players, maybe has a mentorship program and isn’t strict in regards to having a voice chat program for groups and things. Oh and doesn’t mind a casual player.

I have a low level character, so I can always delete and go to a different server if need be. Right now I am on the Tarnished Coast server.

Armor the same for Norn and Human?

What may help me narrow down the race I want to play my Ranger as is the type of armor that each race has. I am trying to figure out what race this one picture is that has this particular armor (I hope that made sense).

In the show your Ranger thread on page 6 almost to the bottom there is a post made by Lion.1796 and it shows blue armor that has almost a tied look to to it. I cannot tell if that is a Norn or Human? Would it look the same on either race?

Any advantage to shape shifting?

in Ranger

Posted by: lonegreywolf.4760

lonegreywolf.4760

This question would be answered much better if it were on the Norn board.

But, as a Norn Ranger, I can tell you that yes, there are advantages of being able to shape shift, but it’s very situational. So much so, in fact, that you will probably never end up using the skills. Hounds of Balthazar would serve you much better in most situations than any of the Norn forms.

I guess it would have been better placed there, but I was thinking Ranger only, so that’s why I put it here…lol.

Any advantage to shape shifting?

lonegreywolf.4760

I’m trying to decide what race to go with for my Ranger, and I am torn between the Norn and Human.

I tend to play female characters because they just look much better in armor than their male counterparts and teh human armor looks extremely good in this game, where the Norn is so-so. Yet, Norn get to shapeshift, and one those shapes if I am reading it correctly is a wolf, which is my favorite animal on this green earth…lol.

So I am torn and am looking to see if there is any advantage to being able to shapeshift?

Are Rangers decent at dual-wielding?

Thank you both for your replies!

Makes me feel a bit better about my new set-up.

For reference, I have a 650Watt OCZ Power Supply. It to is over 5 years old, but I have yet to see any voltage drops from it and it’s a solid power supply.

lonegreywolf.4760

Yes.

You can hold an Axe or a Sword in your Main Hand, and a Warhorn or a Dagger or another Axe in your Off Hand. Right now Axe and Warhorn is a popular weapon combo, but the other ones are still viable and used.

Ranger is very strong soloing in Open-world PvE levelling content. There’s some difficulties with pet management in Dungeons and WvW, but soloing in the open world Ranger does spectacularly.

I’m thinking open world will be all my computer can handle as I am finding out through others.

Since my motherboard went out I have been scrambling to rebuild my computer. Thankfully the motherboard that I have has a lifetime warranty that EVGA is honoring, but they have to send me a newer board since mine is a socket 775 and over 5 years old. SO that means that I need a new CPU, Ram and DVD Burner since they are sending me a P67 SLI board in exchange for my 680i board.

Since my wife and I live off of her disability pay(I am her full-time caregiver due to her multiple sclerosis), plus we have a 4 month old daughter, our money is tight and I can only spend $150 max. So I picked up a Intel G860 Sandy-bridge 3.0GHZ dual core, 8Gbs of G.Skill 1333 DDR3 Ram, and a SATA DvD burner to go with my 9800 GTX+ 512MB video card.

I have had some tell me that my set-up is fine and yet others say that my computer will struggle with this game. I just want to be able to play…lol.

Guess I will see by the end of this week when I have it built.

Your on high – mid end chart. You should look at the High end only chart, the figures go up to 15,000 Notice that the G860 isnt even on that chart becouse it doesnt rank that high.

Also those charts are overall performance. GW2 takes most its performance from single threads, so u need to look at the single thread performance chart (the one i linked).

Im not saying it wont work with GW2, i just highly suspect that any CPu intensive area ike dynamic events, Lion Arch, and WvW will suffer greatly due to it only being Dual core and being overall relativly slow per thread. So just be prepaired..i would rather paint a grim picture and have u be pleasently surprised, than to sing its praise and u be dissapointed.

Ok… that makes more sense.

I wish I could afford a better system, but this is all I have to work with.

the only weapon u can dual wield (2 of the same) are axes.

as for solo’ing they are great imo. let the pet tank everything and u could just shoot with your bow.

Just to clarify, can I wield a sword and dagger?

I purchased the game on February 28, but haven’t been able to play as of yet (stupid PCI-E slot burning out). My intentions are to make a Ranger.

So I am curious to find out how the Ranger is at dual-wielding? I have never been a fan of 2-handed swords in the least and if I am unable to dual-wield will always sword and board instead…lol.

Also, how are they at soloing?

Graphics wise GW2 isnt that harsh, u can easily set the settings to medium. However the CPU on the other hand will struggle. GW2 is INCREDIBILY cpu intensive.

Just to give u an idea. World vs World vs World in GW2 has battles of between 50-150 people at a time, only the very best CPU’s with a OC can keep FPS above 30. You will likely see very low FPS with that CPU in such situations.

You pritty much NEED a 4 core CPU (a 2nd or 3rd gen i5/i7 or a AMD FX 8XXX) . The G860 is only dual core and will bottleneck very quikly with GW2.

Look at this link
http://www.cpubenchmark.net/singleThread.html

You idealy want a CPU that rates at 1800 or above for a Intel rig.

GW2 is NOT budget freindly, if u do stay with the rig u described expect poor performance. GW2’s advertised minimum requirments mean precisly kitten.

Maybe I’m missing something because I am looking at this:

http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu_lookup.php?cpu=Intel+Pentium+G860+%40+3.00GHz

and it gets a rating of 2879 and is ninth overall in performance.

I have been doing a bit more research and it seems this processor is a workhorse and does very well with modern games, including GW2. I’m not looking for superior quality in looks, just want it to play the game.

I want to preface this by saying that I am on a tight budget and I know you hear that all the time, but we are a family of three living off of my wife’s disability pay while I am her full-time caregiver due to her multiple sclerosis.

Recently, the PCI-E slot on my 680i apparently burned out. Thankfully, I have a lifetime warranty on this 680i and EVGA is replacing the board. They unfortunately are unable to replace it with a socket 775 board because well they don’t make them anymore. So they are sending me their P67 SLI board instead. Which means that I have to replace the cpu, ram and dvd burner (mine is a ide burner).

This is what I will be purchasing for those parts.

For the CPU: Intel Pentium G860 Sandy Bridge 3.0GHz LGA 1155 65W Dual-Core Desktop Processor Intel HD Graphics

For the RAM: G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 × 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666)

I know that the DVD burner really doesn’t matter as far as overall performance goes.

The above parts will go with my BFG 9800 GTX+ 512MB Video Card and my OCZ 650 Watt Power Supply.

The games that I play are generally MMOs, Skyrim and I just purchased Guild Wars 2 (haven’t had the chance to play as of yet because my PCI-E slot went down the day after I purchased, installed and registered the game.

The system that this new set-up is replacing was the 680i, with 4GB of G.Skill DDR2 Ram, the 9800 GTX+ vid card and the same power supply. It ran anything that I threw at it and while maybe not on the highest settings, I could manage medium-high settings and was very happy.

Will this new set-up be able to compete with the old set-up?

I am trying to get my best bang for the buck that I have which is $150 to spend. Did I do alright?
