Abyss dye works. but I’m also looking for a white or pearl dye that might work for the trim. At the same time, I am looking for similar armor styles. Is there any armor out there that is similar? I don’t suppose there are pauldrons as large as that, and I know capes/cloaks don’t appear to be present,

Post may contain spoilers for another game, so be warned.

So I have a character image concept in mind and I’d like some help fleshing it out. I created a Human Guardian named Zelg Kadohl. For those of you familiar with the game Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn, this is a rather blatant allusion to Zelgius, earl of Kadohl. The image I had in mind was of his other identity, as the mysterious Black Knight.

I’m fairly new to the game. While I can get the dyes mostly right with default dyes (ebon seems to match the black pretty well), I wonder if there are better dyes. Also, are there any armor sets that will closely resemble this?

The Black Knight was a peerless swordsman yet an honorable warrior. He followed orders, yet was a warrior through and through, wanting to test his mettle against his former teacher. As Zelgius, he commanded respect due to his honor and valor in battle. As the Black Knight, he commanded fear from enemies due to his mysterious nature. He followed the will of his master who believed in him, despite his master’s embittered hatred for the world.

The character I have here is supposed to be that same Black Knight, given another chance at life by the (foreign to Tyria) chaos goddess Yune due to his honor and loyalty, despite his misguided master. He spends it masked behind his black armor, feeling himself unworthy to take his identity as Zelgius back until he atones. Thus, he wanders Tyria as Zelg, the Black Knight.

Yeah…not GW2 but the message is universal to MMO games. This was in the Tech Support forums linked by another poster but I feel it was better off here

The progress bar lies to you. You’re actually about halfway there. The patch just frontloads all of the huge files at the start of the download. After a while, you’ll hit all the small files and your progress bar will advance quickly.

…You know, I really wish these games didn’t come with large updates like this. I can run my internet at 145kbps download speed max, and a big update takes me out of the game for several hours.

Looks like I’ll be back in five hours. sigh

…What the hell? How is a PATCH 13gb?

Or does it just track the files and it is frontloading all the big files at the start of the download?

Earlier today I had an issue with logging in. When trying to log in, I was forced to authenticate my login despite having been logged in two hours before in-game. I did lose connection to my internet briefly, so I wondered if it was related simply to my IP address changing, as is known to happen.

However, I authenticated, and yet was still not logged in. I tried to log in again, and was forced to authenticate. Again. And again I was not logged in. Thinking it was a bug, I went to sleep to not bother with it.

I’m logged in now, obviously. It must have been a bug, because I had no problems.

Native resolution on it is full 1080p HD. I turned it down to 1600×900 as a medium on the NVIDIA control panel. Now that my game is fully updated, I’ve had a chance to muck about with the settings and I have shaders, shadows, and reflections either off or low. Everything else is cranked up to max, and I’m getting 65-90 fps when whipping my camera about as fast as it will go. I think my comp is blowing this game out of the water. It’s not even getting warm yet.

As far as first impressions go, I am being defeated by my lack of knowledge surrounding dodge. To make it easier, I bound my movement controls to the standard WASD controls that every other game uses. I have a habit of using the mouse to move, as I did with WoW. And I keep expecting to hit hotkeys to do all my combat, not realizing that the first weapon key is an autoattack.

Also, I need to find a staff for my necro ASAP. I like my casters to not be in the melee >.>

How can Sylvari be Necromancers?

Here’s how I will put my Sylvari Necromancer.

Sylvari are based off of Fae from Irish mythology. There are two types of Fae: Summer Fae and Winter Fae. Summer Fae are representative of growth, warmth, light, and green forests. They can also represent the violent and savage aspects of nature, such as predators killing prey. Winter Fae represent death, decay, cold, and disease. They also can represent the gentler aspects of nature, such as hibernation and sleep.

A Sylvari necromancer is simply a Winter Fae who can make manifest the power of nature he or she represents. It isn’t evil, just perceived as such who view nature in a certain way. Death is neutral.

In games where I don’t have a mount for flying, I tend to do a lot of wandering due to good ol’ fashioned ADD. I can’t tell you how often I wandered off course to go check out a Dwemer city or Nordic burial site while going to do a specific quest in Skyrim, and even moreso in morrowind.

Hello, GW2 community! I am Lord Naarghul, which you may or may not know from other sites or owning/getting owned in FPS lobbies. I am a newcomer here to GW2. I’ve just registered, and while I wait for the game to finish updating, I’d like some advice, and I’d like a little opinion of my computer, which I’ve literally just opened up.

I am an old veteran of WoW. I quit two years ago after five years of play. I was there from Vanilla all the way to Cataclysm, but I decided to move on. I have some preconcieved notions as a result of WoW, so don’t hold anything against me.

In WoW, the classes I often played either the heavy armored melee fighters (Warriors, Paladins, Death Knights) or else a ranged caster (Mage, Warlock, Moonkin Druid). Warriors translate universally through games, Guardian seems similar to Paladin in a lot of ways. Necromancer reminds me heavily of warlocks, with a theme of death instead of demons. Elementalist is the sort of mage I always wanted to be in WoW, so I expect to have fun when I master the constant elemental switches.

I am fully aware that combat and controls in GW2 are vastly different from most MMOs, and that the holy trinity does not exist. I have done my research, watched vids, and even provided a friend with his own copy to play with me when I get it. I have an idea of what to expect but I also expect the transition to be jarring.

Last but not least, I’d like to know how well my new gaming rig will perform. It’s an ASUS ROG.

CPU: Intel Core_i7_2.7_GHz Processor 2.3GHz

GPU: Nvidia GTX 660M 2G GDDR5

RAM: 16gb SO-DIMM

I’m likely to turn the resolution down as full 1080p is overwhelming on my vision and I hate shadows universally across games, so I’ll be turning them off too. If anyone has any info on how well this comp will perform, I’d love to hear it. I spent a pretty penny on this guy, and I’d like to make sure it’ll get me places.
