You definitely play Staff ele better than I did when I tried it. I didn’t even play zerker. But I the staff on Ele.

Are there really people thinking staff is useless? Out of all the weapon sets it’s the most versatile one, great for area dps/control/support. The only thing is you can’t rely too much on your AAs because they’re kinda slow, and chances are high that you’ll be targetted.
What i mean by useless is in 1v1 situations u can still pull out some moves, a.k.a. dps staff is not only stay on top and spam AoE. Other then that i agree with you, would love to have faster AA’s and some times its pain when ppl target only you

NOTE: this is made entirely for entertainment. The purposes of it is to show people that staff ele is fun to be played and not “entirely” usless
I agree with him after they go out of water they dont have any heals which is the prime def of the ele so ya u can dps hard then. I like to dps em while they are in water 2 cuz this way i shut down theyer “come back” to the fight. Both works if u ask me. Its all up to u :P.

Warrior- make him walk in ur AoE’s and kite him around them. Dont be afraid to fight him in close combat, but watch out. When he is next to u try to use ur cc’s to keep him in the AoE, like drop WA 4 then go FA-2,5 + Arcane Shield. This way he is slowed and he is taking dmg. Ur Arcane shield will give u time to cast ur meteor shower(u can use Arcane Shield while casting) and when it explodes it will dmg him. At this point the war will probably pull back and use his range wep. Switch to earth and use Magnetic Aura. This way ur defending ur self and dealing dmg at the same time. Magnetic Aura when ur finishing him to reflect his cc and atks.
Thief- if u know the thief is going to atk u drop ur AoE’s at ur position. If he atks u at range Magnetic Aura and force him to come to u. If ur in FA and thief atk u use 4 and drop AoE. In WA 4 to slow him down and Aoe. Air 3 to knock him and 2 for the blind or if u have time 5 + 2 for the blind and AoE him. In EA drop 4 move a lil bit and he will be knocked. Try to root him after this and AoE dmg. Most of the time the thief will atk u in close combat drop AoE’s at ur position and kite around em he will be dead be4 he knows what hit him or he will run alway.
Mesmers – Nothing special here. Try to AoE the illusions and kill em as fast as u can. Use ctrl+T when u find the real one and dps him. Most of the time ti will be dps race. U can use Magnetic Aura for the projectiles from the illusions. Drop WA 4 on the mesmer when u see him, this way he will have less time to run around in stealth and confuse u. If he roots u use FA 4 to evade the dmg.
Necros- U have to pressure them. Do DPS as much as u can and wait for ur def moves. If u lose ur pressure u will die most of the time. If u switch to water to heal and clean the condis make sure there is AoE that is hitting him. If he drops marks on the ground dodge roll them. If ur running build B u can switch to water and clean fear while ur in it. Watch out for Golem charge knock. CC as much as possible.
Rangers- Magnetic Aura is ur best friend here. If u see Oening Strike buff on him(green buff with an arrow in it) use Magnetic Aura right before he atks u and start dpsing as hard as u can. He will be dead in no time(most of them love to use Rapid Fire at the start and they will die by it :P). U can use Magnetic Aura when ur cc’ed. If hes a spirit ranger try to cc him and AoE him+ the spirits(Meteor Shower, Lava Font, Flame Burst and Arcane wave=all his spirits dead use arcane shield to def ur self when Meteor showering). Use Magnetic Aura to finish him.
Engi’s- Again Magnetic Aura for Pistol/rifle. Watch for big barrel that. If u see him droping it wait a lil bit and dodge roll(big ol’bomb is the name of the skill). If he is using grenades try to evade the first ones this will reduce the pressure on u. Dps as much as u can. When u switch to water for heal/clean be sure to have an attunement rdy for dps. Same as necro pressure him all the time.
Guardian- At the start of the fight check for aegis buff(When u see it up auto atk and remove it again). If u see one auto atk once to remove it. If he pulls u to him and start spining use Magnetic Aura to reflect dmg. Care for his knocks. Same as warriors dont be afraid to fight him at close and AoE+CC at the position that u fight. Watch out for Retaliation buff. Dont dps him when its up or if u do be sure he is going down before u do.
Elementalist- Meh mirror matches. I hate em LoL. Well as i said before be the smarter man. Moste of the time u will fight s/x or d/d eles. They dont expect staff ele to do that much of a dmg. CC and DPS em to dead. D/D skills are easy to evade and predict so just watch him and dodge roll skills like RTL, burning speed, Churning earth, Fire Grab etc. S/F eles are lil bit tricky cuz of Fresh Air. U have to CC them as hell and evead what ever u can(nothing else here to tell u that will help lol). Trq to use DPS combo(see above for it) and dps them down when they switch to water do even more dmg if u can.

5. Tips and Tricks:
There tones of things that u can do with ele and i cant cover them all in one guide so ill type down some of them.
First thing u have to learn when playing with staff POSITION!!! Position is what separate good staff ele and bad one. If u position ur self good u will reap off every thing. When the match starts find a good high place and start unleashing hell on the enemy. If u cant or for some reason ur not try to stay behind ur team mates. If u cant and ur getting focused this lead us to second thing u should learn
KITE. Use the map as ur advantage. Run around pillars and drop ur cc/heals. After ur at good position/range dps. When there is mele chasing u drop WA-4 or EA-4,5 and dodge roll AA-3,4,5 to slow him down. Same for range + use EA 3 for the projectiles(u can use it as offense to). FA-4 for extra dodge roll and movement(remember u can use it when ur immobilize to evade atks). Lightning Flash: u can use it to get to high places get in and check where u can flash(like in battle of kyhlo u can flash on the stairs near the clock tower or in sky hummer).
Dodge roll: dont burn it for nothing and remember ur dodge rolls have efects use them! Dodge roll important skills or dodge roll for the efect. FA dodge roll- burning nothing much to say here. WA dodge roll- heal(duh) AA dodge roll- blind one of the best. U can dodge roll important skill like hummer war stun and blind the next one. This way he miss 2 of his stuns a.k.a. u dont burn stun breakers and other def skills. Watch out when u dodge roll in to it u have to be in range for the blind to hit him :P. EA dodge roll- blast, bleed and cripple. Use it to blast ur fields and for pressure+kite.
DPS: Rotate ur attunements but dont lock them down. What this means? Thing ahead. As any type of ele u have to out smart ur opponent. This is the only way. Use the skills that u need in the attunement that ur in and switch to the next one but always try to have at least one attunement out of cd. When u switch attunements u get fury and other buffs think of that 2. Lets say thief atk u. Pres EA and u have protection -33% dmg just by switching attunement.
Other: Here ill talk a lil bit about 1v1. Outplay is the word for 1v1. If u 1v1 with staff vs player who is good and he knows what hes doing ur dead most of the time. Thats why u have to be smarter. Ill give u some tips vs some of the classes in the game, im not gonna cover every thing and what to do vs all builds(my be in other guide we will see :P).
Mash Hog.5672- ive played alote more games then that. I have exp in tpvp 2 on NA and Eu severs. I agree that i dont have like 1k games in solo/team ques but still have alot of exp with my ele. Its the only class that i play and i do alot of wvw and spvp(i know that dosent mean anything but is some kind of exp with the class :P). Just want to say TVM for the support :P.

I agree with u vanensang.1389 but i love my ele to much just to leave it. Again i wanted to show other ppl that love theyer class(ele) that they should not stop play it just because of other ppl flame or “underpower”.
Im runing with staff dps build but dont recommend for new players to do it in solo q. Try bunker build or lil more tanky one first. You can contact me in game if u need help :P

First i want to say that i made this topic to show u guys that ele is not dead class. Second staff. Its not that lame and broken wep set that all says it is.
So five days ago i made my way in leaders bord. I was around rank 600 so i try harder. Afther 2 or 3 days i mange to drop to rank 6. There to all you guys that says “dont play ele u failed my game, oh crap ele we lose(u know where im going with this)” – dont judge us before u see us in action.
P.S. Didnt had time to post so thats why im doing it 5 days later. And i did it only with staff( not a bunker/support build but dps)
