Gearwise, Rabid or Carrion are pretty good mixtures of offense and defense, it really comes down to the details of your build as to which one is better (do you use crit procs like earth sigil or incendiary powder? Do you have a power based kit auto attack you like to use? how much fury access do you have? etc). Using Rampagers is comparable to using berserker’s: you’ll die very quickly if you get hit.

I personally use a full set of rabid armor, a decent amount of points in alchemy, and toughness runes (Engineer, saving up for guardian). This gives me a lot of survivability, while still letting me keep up a lot of condition damage.

Another good rune set is altruism, which turns every single heal into “For Great Justice”. Engineers have an advantage with this rune because medkit has no cooldown, so we can use altruism whenever the internal cooldown ends.

With your elite, definitely choose supply crate. It is much stronger than either of our alternatives offensively, and it stuns, and it drops health packs!

Also consider looking into elixir gun if you’re leaning towards a support role. EG 3 clears 5 conditions from allies you hit, EG 4 is a blast finisher and and AOE attack, and EG 5 is an AOE heal.

Since I already have a DPS warrior, I don’t really care much for DPS for my engineer as I would like to play a support role for a group. So let’s say I trait as what Saki Asakura suggested and go for rampager/carrion gear plus maybe dolyak runes for survivability, does that kinda kitten the condition I deal on pistols/bombs? Also playing engineer feels very technical which makes it hard to decide on an elite whereas the warrior is very straight forward >.<

Hi guys I just made a new engineer and my question is aside from weapon kits, how viable is the shield/pistol in terms of general pve and dungeons/fractals?
I see a lot of rifle engineers and rarely shield/pistol. What is the best build for it and gear wise should I go for all condition damage gear? Thanks XD

By grinding do you mean getting the fractal capacitor to its final glowing state?

I usually sell the rares I get on the trading post. Like others have said you will get around 20-30s or above for each. I will only salvage them if i need the ectos. But keep in mind only rares that are level 68-80 will produce ectos also use a black lion salvage kit or a master kit when salvaging them.

Pre events for dragons are the same as other DEs…you get some karma and coins

I see…I play a mesmer with a mix of toughness/vitality/berserker gear. I don’t particularly deal massive amounts of DPS but my character’s survivability is quite good in tight situations. My main concern is if I go for an offensive infusion do I sacrifice the agony resistance?

Like the title states I’m close to getting 1,850 fractal tokens to get the prototype fractal capacitor and the first infusion. My question is should I infuse it with defensive or offensive infusion? As for accessories I haven’t acquired any ascended gear yet but am getting an amulet with a utility infusion when I have enough laurels. Thanks in advance XD

Happened to me the other day too. I was in Wayfarer Foothills when I saw an npc being attacked. Noticed another player just standing there but didn’t think much of it and proceeded to kill the mobs. After that I got a whisper by the player telling me that I suck >.<. Apparently he was trying to do his daily rezzing

So there I was just finishing my dailies, when I stumbled upon a character with an odd symbol next to his name. It’s one of the Anet guys so i beckoned and asked if I could take a screen with him. We didn’t really chat much but he said he was one of the engi programmer or something…

He offered to play together and I said sure! We grouped and went to Orr and got other people to join us. We decided to take on Balthazar…and failed….twice XD. It was awesome and really made my day
