This is just a general question that has bugged me as unfortunately for me this happens quite frequently.
Some of the fights in the game are quite lengthy and if you get DC, when you log back in you are back at the start of the Instance, all the progress in the fight has been lost.
Im trying to do the personal story Hearts and Minds in HOT and its a very long fight made up of having to fight multiple monsters sequentially and its entirely instanced so that any DC means all progress is lost and you have to start all over.
Why is it that if you get DC in an instance , you cant be put back where you were when the DC happened when you log back in.
This type of post comes up a lot and I wonder if its from people who havnt played a MMO before that has expansions.
HOT doesnt affect the original game in the slightest apart from adding gliding.
You arnt forced to buy HOT.
Even if you do and you dont like it like me , theres nothing stopping you from continuing to play the original game .
All you need to do is simply avoid the HOT zones.
All MMOs eventually die, and that will happen with WOW as well, because its simply not practical to keep adding new content forever.
Newer games will always be developed to attract players from existing games.
Every MMO has the most number of players the day its released, and then the numbers slowly go down over time.
Even if you buy gems with RL money, you still have to “grind”, ie do some work in RL to earn the RL money.
Whether you are grinding in RL or grinding in the game , what does it matter?
Has anyone figured out what the exchange rate formula is?
ie if you start converting gems into gold in large amounts, 250G is the largest, when will you see the exchange rate for gems > gold start falling?
Dunno about trains , but I thought about taxis, mainly as a compromise for people who want mounts, but without actually adding mounts to the game.
The idea is you can get a taxi to take you somewhere you havnt yet been, like a waypoint you havnt found , or a waypoint thats contested, or a POI that you dont know the location of. (note the taxi woudnt actually take you to the POI, just close enough so you could see it on the map.)
But heres the killer, like real world taxis, you pay thru the nose, and the further you go the more it costs, so its only something people would do when desperate.
Think of the taxi drivers being WOW goblins.
Taxi ranks would exist in each zone in a couple of places.
It is a tuff event, but doable if everyone knows whats got to be done .
If you can get a group there before the event starts and explain to everyone the phases of the event and whats got to be done its possible.
My success rate is about 1 in 6.
