Hello all GW2 fans…
With all that GW2 and the programmers have to offer and do well, the jumping puzzles IMHO were at best “OK” leveling up to 80 with a few exceptions.
On the level 80 maps and lets just take “the silverwastes” as an example, the jumping puzzles went from fun and challenging (for the most part) too just plain annoying and frustrating with no logic applied where the challenge is nothing but guess work, fail, rinse and repeat.
To make matters worst you cannot ignore them as they are intertwined and not once but often webbed in several achievement side quests. To be in a puzzle where moving left 9.26cm makes the jump and 9.25cm fails is incomprehensible.
The amount of precise jumps required to succeed can be as high as 10 in a row before you get a break towards the next ridiculous set of obstacles. Players actually use another off level 80 character for many of these jumping puzzles to leave it in the area until they succeed.
Its gotta stop. These jumping puzzles are hurting the game. I know there are fans out there that enjoy the sadistic ritual of rinse and repeat for hours on end soooo all the power to ya but for the majority of us who prefer playing the hack and slash this perverted version of Mario Brothers has got to improve. Having a limb support you sometimes and other times not, being able to walk a steep incline and other times not, jumping an absurd height and other times not, jumping blindly in the hopes of hitting your target has no logic, no appeal and is no fun. Where is the intelligent problem solving?
Otherwise make the jumping puzzle stand alone with their achievements and those that wish to deal with the guess work and terrible camera angles and views can do so to their hearts content.
I just cant see what we all need to suffer the poor planning and lack of imagination that these new jumping puzzles now offers us.
best regards;
Hi All…
The jumping puzzles provided in the game by the programmers although very challenging lack the crucial “fun” ingredient and intelligent approach where the skills and knowledge you acquired with your character leveling up to 80 are useless , null and void
Its all a matter of guess work on what you should try and try and try again. There is no consistency in the height or distance your character can travel. So we never really get to know the limitations to our character. To be able to establish with confidence “I can jump this distance or i can jump this height”. ..You can find yourself jumping to a height destination never possible before and fail at a height destination previously accomplished numerous times in the past. The same goes for distance.
And then there is the inclines…sometimes you can walk up that steep incline and sometimes you cant. More guess work.
To make matters worst it is often ridiculously unclear where to go next and what obstacle will support you. With the number of critical jumping moves required to achieve your destination, the process quickly turns to frustration. It certainly appears that the puzzles were designed as a stall tactic and not designed for entertainment.
The bottom line is simply this. I like to be rewarded for learning and then applying my knowledge to my character move limitations to solve the puzzle instead of watching someone on youtube post the route after countless hours and endless attempts of finally guessing the correct path.

Well your not crazy, I have been fortunate to see it twice and have been able to walk up to it twice…. He buzz’s with an electric shorting sound and disappears within seconds as you walk up to him…he gave me something, twice but it was very fast and displayed in my lower right hand corner of the screen…. I think it was permanent attributes assigned to my character. On both occasions nothing was in my inventory….
first occurance was at Vigil Keep down under the bridge at Vigilant Hills.
second occurrence was in Lion’s Arch at Fort Marriner.
