Not sure if this is even considered a “ticket” since I contacted support via https://help.guildwars2.com/anonymous_requests/new. This was on December 2nd. On December 11th I received a response telling me to contact support via the same link. The only thing I can think of is because they said I used a VPN to start the inquiry (which I did), but I have also provided proof of ownership and subsequent replies via e-mail (to add more detail) have been sent from my home connection.

Though the VPN thing was mentioned it seemed to be an “oh, by the way” type of thing so I’m not sure if that was even the problem as it was never really stated. The main thing was “Before we can look into your request, we require that you contact us through the Guild Wars 2 Support Interface. We are unable to help you with a request filed through any other means.”. I had already done that so I’m a little confused now.

The ticket number is 98432.

Hopefully this can be resolved soon. Thank you!

How many MB does it take to download GW2?

Once you get the whole thing downloaded I recommend making a backup so you never have to download that monster again. The files are so large you can’t just copy it to a USB drive, you have to store it using something like WinRAR (stores it in 4GB parts).

If you replace your computer or your spouse or kids start playing on another computer it’s a lot easier to just extract the game in a few minutes than to download over 20 GB again.

That’s a good idea, especially for people with restrictive usage caps. Also to anyone planning to do this, you only need to worry about splitting the files into 4GB parts if you are using a USB drive that has been partitioned for use with the FAT32 filesystem as 4GB is the approximate limit that any one file can be. If you are using NTFS for example you do not need to do this, and you’ll simply copy everything over as-is. Also, if you have a device that is formatted to use FAT32 you can just right-click on it in ‘My Computer’ and go to ‘Format’ and choose NTFS instead. Doing this will erase everything, and it will warn you beforehand as well, so think carefully before rushing into it.
