To be honest with you all… I am not sure I have ever seen a bot in this game. I know they exist in the game. it is well documented. Even Anet has said they are all over. I just can’t recall ever seeing one in this game. I must be lucky.

Maybe I have and just didn’t notice it.

I made this one a couple days ago

After reading many posts here, and even replying to a few I have an idea why this game is so appealing to Botters. Dynamic Events.

Dynamic Events “just happen”, there is no NPC to talk to, no quest to accept and turn in. Therefore bots can easily be automated and will be so hard to prevent and detect.

I really do like the DE system, but it just seems like the designers didn’t fully consider how this system can be abused. If this game had quests with NPCs and all that then the process of accepting a quest, following through with the objectives and returning for a reward would be much more complicated for a bot programmer to automate.

I really hope this can work itself out.

I agree with this. I thought the whole point of the numbers was for account security… But everywhere your numbers are displayed.

Why even make us have numbers on our account names ?

I actually made a post regarding the “I’m Bored” topic that was closed. It seems like we are being policed on these forums. Say the wrong thing and your topic is shutdown!

Perhaps the CM’s are stressed, or maybe they are just jumping the gun and forsee a problem before it happens….. who knows.

Of course there are going to be disagreements. It’s human nature to disagree, and wanting to force an opinion on others…. but unless there is outright disrespect, or abuse I think arenanet could back off a little bit…. of course that is just my thought on the subject.

I play a mesmer and I agree, it does feel a little lacking and limited… The first skill I got was the one to turn a foe into a Moa… used that in the level 30 dungeon and it didn’t really make a difference… Now I have all skills and I just use a couple elite ones.. mostly the hounds of balthazar..

Perhaps once these bugs / bots and other things are sorted they will add more content to keep us happy

First of all… I am not trying to start any arguments or flame wars by this post….. remember that.

The Moderator that locked the topic “I’m Bored” seems to have abused his power to lock a thread. From what I read in that thread there was nothing wrong…. just people talking about thier opinions and giving suggestions that were reasonable to a fellow player.

What gives this moderator the right to lock the thread…. because someone said take a break and play another game ? or was it because they said the game got boring …

Does free speach exist here ?

This is just my thoughts.. I imagine this will be locked soon

I just recorded that video of a group of bots mass spamming there range skills.
The amount of bots I have seen in the last two days is so unreal that I can’t find a zone without them.

I have reported about 50 people today, and to be honest I am getting to the point that I don’t want to play.

I see a lot of post lately and there is a lot of in game talk about it, so ANet, what is going on ? Did something change in the last 2 days that make botting more common ?

I will continue playing, and reporting. But this has got to be fixed really soon.

I get so many game mails now saying about buying gold from their website and it’s really annoying so i was going to start reporting all of them, but i noticed when i go to report it, it has a warning with something along the lines of if they are not found to be gold sellers that i could get banned, or something like that.

That kinda worried me a bit, if they some how don’t get found to be selling gold or delete their account then could i get banned for wasting time?

I don’t want to report someone i get mail from, then they get away with it and i could potentially get banned for trying to help out.

You won’t get banned… I reported about 30 -40 people today alone for botting. And EVERY gold selling mail should be reported. This is a massive problem and the anet team is aware….

I also would like to suggest allowing people to apply to be GM’s with some powers to at least kick botters and things like that. These bots are literally EVERYWHERE on the server I am on. To be honest, It’smaking me not want to play, and I am addicted to this game!

I have a question… These bots, are they the ones that are ruining the Market as well. I was thinking perhaps they are the ones that are selling everything at 1 copper above merchant price. It makes rare drops so hard to sell…

I have been reporting bots like crazy since last night, in Harathi Hinterlands on Devonas Rest server. It is rediculas how many bots are at one particular event spot.

Also, is there a way for volunteers to become GM’s. I would love to be able to help people in game and help take care of this botting problem.
