I can personally vouch for the success of MM necro in general open world PvE. The minions provide an excellent distraction and, when traited properly, can add to your survivability significantly. However this does come at the expense of mobility since your minions aggro absolutely everything.

This is an example of what I run. I switch things around depending on the situation but this will get you through most.

As for gear, Viper’s or Berserker’s are going to get you through most situations. The more damage output you have the faster things will die and you have more than enough toughness for most situations thanks to Flesh of the Master. If you find you need more survivability then Valkyrie’s is a good alternative. Most of the time it shouldn’t be necessary.

Do keep in mind this won’t be a good choice for dungeons or fractals but will get you through just about anything open world.

I 100% agree with this. Out of all the games I’ve played this one has the friendliest and least toxic communities by far. If nothing else this game deserves major recognition for that fact alone.

Welcome back to the game! It’s a great place to be if you ask me and has one of the best MMO communities I’ve ever seen.

The best advice I can give is to stick to what you love doing. There are a ton of different ways to level up so focus on what you enjoy and it won’t be such a grind. The game has changed a lot since you left mind, and the posters above me have done a great job of summarizing the changes for you.

As for the Living World seasons, they basically serve as small parcels of story content released to the game that help pave the way for new expansions. If you have access to Heart of Thorns I would highly recommend playing through living world season two (it can be purchased from the gem shop) before diving in. It did a fabulous job of setting up for the story content in the expansion and was very enjoyable. In the future you won’t need to worry about purchasing the seasons if you stick around as you automatically get permanent access to them by playing when they’re released.
