yeah, im 35 at the moment…i guess that makes sense but then why would they choose it for the first (official) month that the game is live? and regardless of that, its kind of a kick in the pants to any new players. shrug ok, i suppose ill just wait. still seems like a flawed idea to me

ok, i love the whole daily and monthly achievement system, i really do. but the “experience earned without dying” one just seems to shoot the whole system in its own foot.

1: the monthly achievements are something you have to slowly build up to, all month, right? Then why do we have one that essentially has to be accomplished in one sitting?

2: the goal to complete it is ridiculous! 50k exp is only halfway, so i can only assume the final tier is 100k. thats just…unbelievable. Im not a ‘baddy’ that dies constantly, but lets face it, im an engineer…its going to happen occasionally. especially in a mission. i feel bad for cloth-wearers. if youre hell-bent on having this monthly achievement, at least lower the goal. or maybe include the achievement, but dont make it part of the monthly system. Im probably not going to be able to get my chest this month because of this.

3: its to the point where, when im in the “ok, im going to earn the ‘xp without dying’ achievement”, im just scared to try things. i dont want to get involved in events if there arent loads of people that can/will revive me immediately, and i dont want to do story missions because i dont know what im walking into. it actively makes me AVOID playing the game, which is crazy because the whole reason i love GW2 is that it encourages you to explore every facet of the game, unlike most MMOs. So this particular little bit just seems backwards. on top of it all (and i guess this ties into point 2), you can either sit around farming normal creatures and it will take literally ages of going nowhere, and doing nothing. thats not what GW2 is about. OR, you can play normally, explore the world, try new things but then…oh look, the cave youre halfway through just filled with respawns, theres no way youre getting out alive! (<- that exact thing happened to me with a cave full of ettins)

anyways, thanks for your time…hate to be longwinded and all, and i really do love everything about the game but…gah…this monthly achievement is just frustrating me to no end right now.

im pretty sure, no there isnt. however, it would be a nice feature to add. one of the “gem services purchases” things…i kinda wish i had given my engineer a last name now

i absolutely agree. i just got an email saying somebody from china tried to access my account. not cool. im gonna cut arenanet some slack, considering they just released and probably didnt have a massive budget like WoW or SWToR during developement, and assume that authenticators are at least in the works. either way, we desperately need them. id definitely pay for a physical authenticator, and having an ios/android/whatever app would be amazing. lets raise some noise, hopefully they do something about this sooner rather than later!
