Would not happen as they like the pets to be predictable in sPvP and I doubt they people to learn which pet is which.

Sad, but when it isn’t other profession making nice thing impossible for ranger, then the game modes have to have a turn.

Quite simple solution for that, while entering pvp all ranger pets would look like their standard versions so every player could easily recognize them. Just like they did with standard enemy models.

It’s an interesting idea but… People who like to collect every single thing in a game would probably flame ANET for that kind of move. Also, balancing pets’ special skills that non of the races would have an advatage over another would be tricky. Then, if ANET created race specific pets with meh skills everyone would use the same pets they use now. Race-specific pets would end up only as show off kind of thing.

I fully understand the problem you have, because I have both human and norn rangers. It seems I can’t decide which one to choose although they are both in the middle of the road to 80 O_O

I can only tell you about my preferences. Also don’t know if you’re talking about females or males. My human female ranger is nice, because she seems to run fast (animation wise), she looks awesome in almost every medium armor and all outfits and what’s more important – animals she charms are big and actualy look like her companions.

My norn female ranger – shortest/skinniest one – looks like a slightly bigger human but stil has slower running animations. That and her low IMO unpleasant voice really bugs me. Most of animals also look more like pets and minis, then her companions. The thing I like about her is the lore and that raw kind of look. Human females look like princesses – all their faces are childishly pretty with annoying angry or bored with life grimace.

If you imagine what kind of roleplay would you like with both of them, it will probably help you decide. I think I’ll end up with playing human ranger, but will level norn as well just to dress her up in cultural norn armors that i love

Thanks for the replies everyone! I’ve actually rolled a new warrior AND an elementalist just to give it a try. I’ll probably stick with warrior though. It seems to suit me best I think.

Oops! Well, archer/hunter/ranger they’re all pretty much the same thing in mmo’s (with or without pets) so it’s easy to mix up the name used for the class/profession in each game. lol Hunter is what I tend to call the bow class/profession in general. Everyone knows what it means.

Not exactly. Archer’s and WoW Hunter’s playstyle is based on range skills.

GW2’s Ranger is both ranged and melee with an ability to manage a pet. All of these 3 things come together as a package. The sooner you’ll get used to that thought the sooner you’ll become a good ranger

I felt like I could look at a mob and fall over dead. I was that bad at it. Then I rolled mesmer and loved it and had no problem surviving and killing whatever I wanted, even though I heard others complain that they died all the time as a mesmer or they couldn’t kill anything. You just need to find what you like and play the best.

That is almost exactly how I feel now. While playing Ele I’m concentrating on switching attunements so hard that I’m getting a lot of damage. After checking Ele I played Mesmer and she feels much better for my taste. Some dodging, blinking and kiting is a must but it’s fun. I will stick with it for a while.

Lazuli, I was thinking about binding x, c, v and b but B key feels a little bit far from movement keys so I gave up on that.

I started to play warrior and guardian cause people recommended these classes for newbies. Now I would like to play something more challenging in meantime. I think I’ll try Mesmer and if I won’t like it I will try Ele. From all your descriptions Mesmer I get that is better to play Mesmer after Warrior.

AdaephonDelat – did you bind F1-F4 somewhere else on keyboard?

I think I might be lazy with attunements cause functional keys on my keyboard are two times smaller then normal ones and it’s hard to click them. I was thinking about rebinding them somewhere else and give my Ele a shot.

Right now I’m between Ele and Mesmer. Have both on lvl 12. I like Ele with 2 daggers, looks awesome, but I’m tired of jumping between attunements a little bit (blame my one click warrior for that). I like fighting with Mesmer, but I’m discouraged by all builds recommending greatsword (I already spent hours playing guardian and warrior with greatsword).

Hi everyone.

I started to play this game couple of weeks ago and I love it! I leveled my warrior and guardian to lvl 65 and although I know it would be nice to get them to 80 first I can’t help myself from thinking that maybe another profession will be more suitable for me. I’m thinking about light armor profession and can’t make up my mind.

So… what caster profession would you recommend mainly for open world and PvE (maybe with some WvW in a future, but I’m not a fan of any kind of PvP) that will be reliable especially post patch? I’m somewhere between casual and very active player and don’t have time to level 3 of them as quick as I would like to, so I seek the help from players that know these classes very well.
