You have 5 free character slots that you got with the game. You also have the option to purchase more slots through in-game gold or Money and also the option to delete a character.

O, and I know that the expansion costs money. Not anywhere in my previous post did I say that the expansion is free. All I said is that they have continually updated the game since release for free and will continue you to do so. I just biased my post around why they shouldn’t be asking for more.

None of which is “free”, with the tenuous exception of the gold to gem transfer.

It isn’t “more” to ask that a key feature of the expansion by usable without having to pay extra.

Sorry, its getting late and I can’t type/read what I’m typing. Here is what I meant to say.

Please do tell how you would come to that conclusion. With that kind of reply, I’m not sure if you know what “free” means..

Simple, Heart of Thorns is not “free”. It is a paid expansion. One feature of that expansion is the introduction of a new class. This a feature that is only usable with an empty character slot. For many players, they have no such slot, and those who do are required to sacrifice one of their existing slots for the purpose.

In other words, one of the key paid features of HoT is not usable without either an additional purchase, or sacrificing already purchased content. Asking for that functionality, when you pay for the expansion, is not asking for “free” stuff. It’s asking to be able to use what you pay for.

But then, after the Infinite Continue Coin debacle I guess ANet don’t really care about whether or not customers can use the products they pay for, so long as they’ve paid.

I think the bigger misstep in marketing was the lack of character slot. It’s basically a neon sign saying “We’re really greedy and will squeeze you for every penny we can!”

This is quite laughable. I love the amount of people who think they’re entitled to free stuff just because they’re veterans . The only greedy people here are people asking for free stuff. You’re still paying the price for the expansion as everyone else. If you own the core game already since launch, GREAT! You have enjoyed 3 years of free updates and support for the game while you probably have stacked hundreds of thousands of hours for game who only have to pay once for. Not only that but the free updates and support will continue you to come before and after the expansion. /Thread

Where you are wrong is not in are you a veteran or not.Every new expansion that comes with new class or race must include a free character slot.HoT has 1 new class so it must have 1 free character slot. It’s that simple….

I’m not reading it anywhere in the Eula where they must include a character slot for each expansion. So what I’m left to believe is that you think you are entitled to free stuff.

Character Slot for Heart of Thorns? [Merged]

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Character Slots only cost 800 gems = $10 = roughly 160 gold. If you don’t have the money for it than you can farm the gold for it which shouldn’t take you too long.

Nono guys you got it all wrong:

The core game is what you pay, the expansion is a FREE BONUS!

See what I did there? If you buy a bundle, you pay everything of it. I got GW2 already, I don’t need a bundle, I just need the expansion. I don’t care if it’s cheap or expensive, the point is that I don’t want to pay for something I already own.

You’re not paying for a bundle. You’re paying for the expansion like everyone else.

Expansion + GW2 = Bundle.
1+1=2

I was never good in math, but I think this is correct, right?

1 is not equal to 1+1. Because you’re only paying for the Expansion if you have the core and if you don’t you’re still only paying for the expansion. So you’re only paying for the expansion at the end. See so it will look something like this (Expansion = Expansion).

Don’t worry I was only good at math up till calculus 2 ;/.

Anyone bought HoT and happy?

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: nerevar.6247

nerevar.6247

Got the ultimate edition. No regrets.

Yet. As you have purchased something without actually knowing the full content, which may disappoint you so much you quit playing it after a week or a month.

It’s good to see 10+ players jumping in and throwing money at Anet, compared to the many many posts saying ‘no thanks’, will be interesting to see how it all works out.

“many many posts saying ‘no thanks’” Most of the time people only post when they are unhappy with something. Seeing a couple hundred posts clearly shows that only a minority of the playerbase is unhappy compared to probably the thousands of players who have already purchased the expansion and stayed quiet about while continuing to play the game.

Because THIS IS THE EXPANSION PRICE. Live with it. You don’t pay more for the Core game. But reading is hard, I know.

This isn’t a matter of “this is the price” or not. It’s a matter of doing it in a way that doesn’t result in kittenstorms on the internet. ANet is notoriously bad at that.

It’s a matter of perception. I know that perception is very subjective but as I said, manipulating and predicting percetion is part of the job ANet should be doing.

In this case, the perception is that :
- I’m a veteran player, I paid I don’t know how much for the game and currently you can get it for as low as $20 if you do it smartly. I can let that slide since everything lowers in price over time
- The expansion comes out and costs me $50
- The expansion has one of the major features be a new class and it’ll cost me $10 more to play it cause … my char slots are maxed for some strange reason

So, as a veteran, I feel like I’ll have after the HoT purchase spent $80 to get the game, while new players will have spent $50 for more or less the same value. Yes I know it’s not the same thing, those $80 gave me one extra char slot etc… But it’s perception. And the perception currently is that I’ll have to spend $30 more than new players to enjoy HoT.

This is too much plain and simple. Hence the complaints. What ANet should have done is throw us virtual bones that are more or less worthless but shift the value perception to a point where nobody complains. The easiest would be to give a free chat slot to players that already own the core game. It’s shift the value perception by a whole $20 back.

New players will also have to drop $20 for Season 2 pack if they want to play through it and won’t be able to relive the living content that most of us veterans were able to play through. Also the core game is F R E E with the expansion. If you already own the core game it doesn’t effect your just paying for the expansion while the core game is F R E E for those you don’t have it, but y’know a SMALL amount of people will complain when they don’t get something free.

You just don’t get it. To current players, they are paying $50 for the expansion; and new players are paying $50 for the expansion and the free core game. Why such disparity exists is beyond me.

It doesn’t matter the core is free or not; it certainly isn’t free for us and we’re paying the same price as the new players and getting half of the package.

No, you don’t get it. Everyone is still paying $50 dollars for the expansion.

No. You don’t. Current players are paying $50 for the expansion and new players are paying $50 for the expansion and the core game.

There is a difference.

You’re not paying for the core game and neither are new players. It is offered as freebie while everyone still needs to pay $50 for the expansion.

Where can I, as a current player, claim this said freebie?

You don’t need it to access the expansion, you already have access to the core game.

But it’s a freebie offered to anyone who pays $50! At least give me a new serial code for a new account! Why the distinction?

If you are so inclined to have the freebie purchase the expansion for a new account and you will have access to the core game + expansion on it.

There. I rest my case.

So, that is what you’re going to do? You’re going to purchase it for a new account and start the game all over again? Why not just purchase it for you’re current account since you already have the core game and I’m sure you have hundreds if not thousands of hours already put into the game if you are a long time veteran. Its not like they haven’t continual offered updates and support for the game for a one time purchase fee since the games release.

They didn’t forget. They’re just consumed with greed and a disdain for their customer base.

They’re so consumed with greed that they’re offering a FREE core game for new players and you’re unhappy that you aren’t getting something for free when you’re paying the same price for the expansion. They’re so greedy that they have offered us continual Update and support for the past 2 to 3 years, gave away season 2, and you only had to pay once for probably the hundreds if not thousands of hours you have already put into this game.

Seems like that we the poor people will have to wait for discount of 50, or 80%
they will start with the discount of 20%…

this has nothing to do about being cheap or what not. I have over 300 games on a steam and over 50 games outside of steam, i have no problem spending money on games as gaming and collecting is my hobby.

But this, this feels like a slap and rip off of loyal supporters and veterans. I feel like my support is not appreciated… And that is bad marketing

Certainly feels like a slap on the face with continual support and update for a game I have put 3000 hours into, enjoyed and only needed to buy once. Hell they even handed out season 2 for free and continually added new living stories/ dungeons to the game. I feel so ripped off for not receiving something for free and having to pay $50 for the expansion like everyone else.

The thing is you aren’t paying for much, new specs and that’s pretty much it, untill those new specs are being ballanced you can catch flies with your tongue, and watch your money go to waste., you are not paying for something tested and working properly which is something common for MMO’s. This price is ridiculous, is this EA or Ubisoft, with their upcomming DLC’s? Ask yourself that question. This is why GW2 was never popular outside NA/EU. Korean market holds the biggest MMO’s and you know why? They hold a value, this is money milking, once again ask yourselves for what changes you are paying and here its not a question of being a fan of the game or not, its about the value that you are paying for and what you are geting out of it, which is nothing except more unballanced classes and months of QQ post’s in forums about stuff. It happened before it will happen again.

“Korean market holds the biggest MMO’s and you know why? They hold a value”

That right there just killed it for me. Korean MMO’s are so good that they all end up being P2W and a huge Grindfest for BIS Gear .

Like this game isn’t a grindfest and you can’t pay real money to make gear faster right?

Yes, Because totally I have to truly Grind my Heart and Soul out for BIS slot gear to be viable in pve or pvp and last time I checked I’m sure they weren’t selling gear on the gem store.

Happy. We’re actually in playing the game and happy – the others are just the vocal minority.

Vocal minority huh ?

Take a look at the dislikes on this vid and the comments please.

Still a Vocal Minority. 400 people disliking a video proves nothing when the game has a player base of thousands if not millions of players and plus most people will go out of there way to dislike a video they truly don’t agree with while others who don’t have much of an opinion on it will move on. Hence why the video only has 8k views while on view people Comment/Like/Dislike.

The level of arrogance coming from Anet right now has reminded me why I don’t play GW2 anymore. You guys have been milking the gem store for 2 years now with no meaningful updates and now you want to gouge people with this ridiculous pricing format? Making people rebuy the core game?

It takes serious balls to come out here and pull this stuff, Anet. It’s almost like you don’t realize you’re game community has been in a dire state for a long time now and this was your chance to win people over. What a joke.

Why would it matter to you? As you stated you haven’t touched GW2 for a while . Plus the amount of content they have released the past 2 years is far more than what other games have released with expansions. Whether you like em or not. I for one love em.

I’m happy. Bought the $100 pack and dropped another $100 on Gems. The amount of time I have spent and will spend on this game far outweighs how much I spent on it.

I totally agree I never come on the forums and Q.Q but this is just simply stupid I will NOT pay for the core game again

The Vast majority don’t care enough to QQ about stupid things like this. Only a minor amount of the community is complaining about this and so they will come vent their angry out on forums.

Hello,
I am opening this topic to point out to arena net team one flaw in trading post system.

I noticed that when you are selling an item in instant (to highest offer) there is listing fee but there is also exchange fee.

Now if we look at meaning of word listing fee, we can clearly see that its fee used when you list item on trading post that will or not be sold, but it will be kept on trading post as it is listed.

Exchange fee is fee that is used as trading post fee for exchanging gold for items. Now if we are selling item directly without listing it (to highest offer) I don’t see a reason why there is listing fee, trading post is merely doing services of exchange and should ONLY apply exchange fee.

I hope we’ll be able to get clarification from arena net team why we have listing fee when selling directly through tp.

Best regards.
