It’s not pay to win, it’s pay to save time. I’ve done all the trib modes except 2-3, bought every item, and I have 65 more coins sitting in my inventory, which is more than I could possibly need.
The only people forced to buy the infinite coin are the people who make guides and need to get them out fast.

I’m pretty sure I don’t have to read all 25 pages of this. Some people are complaining about difficulty, the same people who complained last patch and the patch before that all the way to Halloween. Having difficult, even tortuous content is just fine, you’ll never please everyone.
The valid points are the ones talking about bugs and finicky mechanics. I’m glad things like the rapids and water spouts were fixed – but the bugged checkpoint in 2-2 TM that kills you 2-3 times per respawn and the following cloud checkpoint doesn’t work…yeah that’s enough to give me an ulcer.
At the end of the day, it’s a really ambitious project that is really unique. Seeing as it’s a free release, I can forgive the bugs. Good job, keep it up.
Answer is no. Dev on livestream today said “we want to do it but we have nothing to say at this time.” Which is exactly what they’ve said for the past year. So basically, it’s not happening anytime soon, and expect 1000g+ precursors.
And will that salvage yield globs of dark matter or other ascended crafting mats?
I know I have a friend who just picked up the game and really wants the octopus backpack skin. It was sad to have to tell him that there’s no way he can ever ever have that, no matter how hard he tries. I wish there was something like this.
There is a feeling in the game, whether it is deserved or not, that you can’t get anywhere just by playing the content. You can salvage rares until you’re blue in the face, you’ll never even catch up with the price inflation of precursors or gems. Then every once in a while something like this happens where the rich get richer. It’s not just the exploit, it’s all the money made on mithril and the ecto market. For whatever reason, it feels unfair. And that makes everyone upset because really even if everyone who did this is banned, it wouldn’t change the fundamental situation.
From my PvE experience, I think P/P is decent as an auxiliary set to D/D but you don’t spend much time in it due to the weak autoattack and underwhelming syngergies in that set. What it IS good for is Sneak Attack for bleed stacking from stealth, then while you’re there you can either stack some vuln for your friends or Unload with Signet of Malice for a quick heal. Finally Black Powder plus Heartseeker is a nice stealth to re-open up with the daggers.
I have to say I usually use D/D and situationally either P/D or SB.
Edit: vuln stacking is really nice if you can coordinate with your party well, use during time warp for example for insane damage.

I’m not really upset that the event hasn’t been released yet. I understand. Sometimes a bug only manifests itself on the live server, and you need to do an emergency fix.
But what I’m worried about is the lack of disclosure, more than anything. I’ve seen a lot of “the build will be released at some point today” posts, yes. And I trust that at some point before midnight on the West Coast, the game will patch. I’m sad it wasn’t in game when I logged in, but it isn’t like the game is down or anything. I can still play.
But the lack of a reason is kind of worrying. I’d really like it if there was a post somewhere that said, “Hey, Wintersday is still coming. But it’s later than we initially expected because of X,Y, and Z. We’ll keep you updated. Watch this space!”
That’s all I really want. Just a place where I can follow the progress of the update. Maybe some pictures or concept art to build up excitement. Stuff to make the wait less disappointing.
If they didn’t know what time the build would be deployed, they should not have specified a time. Simple as that. It doesn’t take an MBA to realize how damaging it is to the reputation of a company to keep its customers confused and in the dark. It’s the difference between the airline telling you your plane is delayed and giving you regular updates, and them just telling you to just sit in the airport and wait…and wait…and wait…
The problem is the confusion, and the not knowing. And yes, saying “sometime on the 14th” is confusing, not coy.
Any changes to these with the patch? Last info was a month ago or so…
Nougat Center, Onyx Fragment x2
For higher tiers of the result you need higher tiers of metal and more/better versions of the above.
Yeah I would have thought that this would be one of the easier fixes to make, but I guess either it’s not or they simply have other priorities.
Well, at least the devs have come out and explained it. I am thankful for that. So much in this game is hidden behind the scenes, from magic find to hidden cooldowns to the 10% fee on the BLTC, etc. While it may be in accordance with the whole theme of hidden secrets throughout the game, when it comes to game mechanics I find it insulting.
Mesmer got destroyed? No.
First off, everyone has the trait that reduces illusion summoning time 20% across the board. Granted, they should have fixed that before they start messing with summon times but basically duelist still comes up every 16 seconds and 12 seconds with the pistol trait as well, which becomes a more interesting choice. Likewise the staff trait becomes a much more interesting choice than it used to be.
Chaos Armor actually got a slight buff. Have you noticed it always grants like 5 seconds of protection? And you can combo it with Chaos Armor? I tell you, with Illusionary Membrane you can have crazy protection uptime as a mesmer. Let’s not even talk about Signet of Inspiration, which I think is totally underrated.
Anyway. Thieves are the ones that should be crying. Instead of nerfing quickness which is the real source of imbalance, I guess they will just systematically nerf burst damage. Lol. Have you ever rolled with a thief and warrior and timed your Time Warp with their burst abilities? ANet if you’re reading this, quickness is WRONG. Make spikes actually have to be coordinated, not come from an IWIN button.
This just happened to me, lost about 30,000 karma trying to preview weapons that now I can’t even use. And you know what, I admit it was my mistake but it’s just not fair.
I know several people who this has happened to and yet every thread on the forums is about how it’s not ANet policy to refund items and we’re just out of luck.
So I guess I will either happily grind another hundred dynamic events just to get back to where I was. Or I’ll just stop playing for a while ’cause it feels like such a setback.
Those videos kinda show that most of the cool effects are just from running around…
I mean, when you use skill 4 don’t you get all the effects from swinging the sword into the vertical position?
If you use skill 1 while strafing left to right, do you see the weapon trails?
I think it’s a pretty normal economy for an MMO, which is completely bonkers but expected. If you wanted a real healthy economy, you would have to go full-on EVE style with no NPC vendors, destroyable “gear” that constantly needs to be replaced, and continued demand for “low-level” gear even at endgame (because all the ships from the smallest to the largest are used in different circumstances).
As it is, supply will always outpace demand for the vast majority of items and only the very rare (like fine crafting mats) will be actually traded above vendor price.
