So I now have to do Arah Story mode TWICE? Is this for real?

Do you read the last chapter of a book and nothing else but the last chapter? It’s sort of like that.

However, I agree that it kind of stinks. Only because doing story mode in dungeons more than once gives you absolutely nothing.

I loved the guy and all. He was less annoying than Sieran and certainly far less irritating than Trahearne.

However…He had some issues.

He refused to believe that I was battling for my life because I was a ranger using a bow. In the Spider Queen’s den, with the Skritt, I was standing on top of the cliff shooting at the things below me (because, you know, I don’t like things getting too close to me), he just stood there. I had to reign in my pet because every time I shot an arrow, it would go running. Forgal, on the other hand, just stood there like he was saying, “Now that’s some nice shooting, soldier. Let me know when you’re going to fight. I’m just going to nap here in the mean time. What’s that? We’re fighting now? Great. I’m just gonna go get myself wiped about a hundred times.”

I won’t get into his obsession with fighting centaur weapon racks when me and the Seraph (who wear used Kleenex for armor and might as well throw rocks for how effective they are) fight the Centaur Champion. Dead serious. I was dodging, rolling, and shooting for my life…and he was standing off to the side swinging away at that very threatening rack of weapons.

His final speech made up for everything, though. So he’s okay in my books. He was just going a bit senile, so I can’t hold that against him.

Where did everybody go?

Weird. My husband and I are running a second set of characters to level 80. We both played the Vigil plotline all the way through (though he was Charr and I was human). Now we’re both playing humans and we’re playing Order of Whispers and the Priory. When the questline merges, we both choose an option that we didn’t the last time…

And it’s like playing a different game. PLUS we have plans to run a THIRD set of characters through, different races, just so we can explore the many story options. We were JUST saying to each other today about how it speaks a lot for the game if we’re willing to run through everything again.

Oh, sure, the grinding stuff is all the same. But seeing as we enjoy the plotlines (even if it is just to shoot our weapons at Trahearne every time he opens his mouth) we’re pretty eager to decide what map we want to get a 100% completion for, not to mention our Dailies, just to get the the next part. Best of all, there is no subscription fee, so when we do get bored, we don’t have to worry about it.

The game is still entertaining and people are around. Maybe you should look at switching servers before complaining about how the game doesn’t fulfill your every expectation every moment of the day?

And yet I’m sure you have no problems killing the humans in the game. Or are you one of those people who also don’t let your Sims die (if you are a Sim playing person)? Oh, and before you get on me about how the Sims isn’t a real video game, I’ll also inform you that I’m a high level ranger in this game, a decent cook, and I’m in the mood for bacon.

I think I’m going load up my game and go hunt some wild boars.

How are Dungeons meant to be played?

The big issue that I’ve been noticing on the multiple runs through CM (story) and one, single, horrible run through AC is that nobody focuses on the same target. You have a necro over there taking on a boss, a mesmer being wiped by another, an engineer running around setting off traps, and then me (ranger) and the warrior beating the snot out of the same mob. The necro, mesmer, and engineer would wonder why they were getting wiped.

Go figure.

Dungeons aren’t a place for you to solo a mob by yourself. Someone needs to pick a target and then every one else needs to select the same target as well.

Guild Wars 2 is a different MMO, yes, sure, absolutely. But grouping isn’t a new concept. Yeah, it’s a whole lot easier in this game to solo. But when you are doing a dedicated dungeon run, it’s about working as a team, not having the wizard with the toughness and armor of used tissue “tank” the main boss while everyone else is running around trying not to get killed by the other three bosses.

So TL;DR: everyone needs to target the same mob. I can’t believe I need to say that, but apparently I do.

Oh, and one last thing: For the love of god, take out the spell casters first, especially in AC.
