man, i thought he got my sarcasm and upped me one level in sarcasm.. lol. who’s the bigger fool? :P
well honestly i didn’t expect the thread to live long enough to get more than 1 or 2 replies. THANK YOU MODS for exceeding my expectations. I’m not a fan boy at all… I never even leveled an 80 on WoW, and I just started seriously playing LotRO.
I agree, I think this game is awesome. It’s easily one of the best MMO’s to come out in the last 6 or 7 years.., but it could be better. Not only could it be better, but one of the major ways in which it could be better is by having a persistent world in which you dont run around in a glorified box, and have to pass through a load screen whenever you enter a new area. This is a technology that has been around since at least 2004, and one that I thought was such a step forward for MMO’s that it would be assumed going forward. Apparently not though. Adventuring in a box with loading screens like in 2003 is still par for the course apparently. ANet has a wonderful game, but it seriously lacks in the same major area SWTOR did. It feels claustrophobic and contrived. The scale is all wrong and we run around in a box.
Just wondering—they pretty much are redefining the mold of MMORPG the way they’re doing it, and with no subscription fee and consantly new events how do you think they’re making enough money? The game itself is getting cheaper, too (sales n’ such) are they just doing THAT well that I shouldn’t be concerned for the company?
Yeah, never before have I felt a game was so good that I’d be concerned they weren’t charging enough. I just don’t want this to go away, lol
Basically it’s the boil a frog principal. Paying $5, 15 times is much more easily digestible for the vast majority of us than paying $60 1 time. ANet can make more money, with a constant revenue stream from the Gem Store, than if they charged a subscription, simply because it’s so convenient, consistent and cheap.
ANet isn’t bad for this either, it’s not a zero sum situation, as if ANet wins and we lose just because they take more of our money. We profit from this model as well. Being freed from the shackles of $15/30days, regardless of personal life, time constraints or temporal interest in the game, and not feeling as though you “have to play because you paid”, or you “can’t play without dedicating 29 more days of play” is valuable, not only for our wallets but for our peace of mind. I can get more value from $20 in the gem store and a weekend off work where I actually want to, and have time to play all weekend, than I do from $15 a month, every month, regardless of what’s going on (not really regarless because the $15 made me feel like my MMO is more more important than RL sometimes.. that’s never good.
I mean, it’s not like i spent over $150 on this game, tried out a “competitor” and posted on THIS games forums with constructive criticism or anything. THAT is the behavior that gets you banned. Praising the games perfection wont get a post deleted.
Why should it be removed? I’m only praising the PERFECT game AreanNet made, I am in no way criticizing it, or comparing it unfavorably to any of the other 1 million MMO’s fighting for my money. Only under those circumstances would this be removed.
NONE! THIS GAME IF PERFECT! There is nothing wrong with it. The game mechanics could not possibly be improved upon! ArenaNet you got it right the first time, your forum moderators have proven it! There is absolutely no are of the game that merits ANY constructive criticism, whatsoever. It’s perfect as it is. Don’t change a thing. If anybody suggests any different, delte their post immediately because the game is perfect as it is.
I agree with the OP, this mini-game is not fun. It’s almost rage inducing. It’s like every 5 seconds im getting slowed down or can’t move. Yeah, I know…. “Dodge!” or “Stay away from crabs!” Keeping track of the tiny crabs and orientation of the karkas is not really doable, especially with the amount of ground clutter and zoom limitations. It just seems like a zerg fest where everyone gets knocked down all the time. Not fun at all.

yes PLEAAASE!!!!
also, when you mouse hover over the zone titles in the map view, a popup displays the zone completion, so you can find the new waypoints without porting all over the place.
lol did you just see me die? :P yeah it was there lol, but it’s happened in several other places too
I would just to say that it’s not very fun to walk into an area with 5 or 6 NPC’s, proceed to kill the NPC’s and upon getting to about the fourth one, watch the group begin to respawn.. end up killing about 8 or 9 guys before finally being overwhelmed and killed. it doesn’t happen ALL the time by any means, but it happens enough that I felt compelled to come whine about it.
yeah, i’m a bit underwhelmed with the forums. i cant believe there is no General Discussion forum. the game is great tho.
