im still thinking about my new built, got time since im going for 200 thief wins atm.
but its realy tragic to watch the development of random maps. nekrozergs with some ingis teamup through spectator mode and cc/condition every1 to oblivion. good thing that the imba eles with the imba damage, imba heal, imba ccs, imba condition removal and imba mobility got nerfed^^. i kind of wonder whats ride the lighning is for. the fix suggest to use it for attacks, but its not like we are invul for that period. we can zoom through traps, ccs and aoe. pretty stupid to use it like that if u ask me. good thing there are so many mobs in wvw.

just gotta play way nastier than before ^^

they only require “some” melee and movement because classes like d/d ele still exist.

or do u think a trap hunter wishes to move at all? the biggest inbalance is at what rate of “skill” people get success.

Don’t know if this is the right way to interpret your post. What u means is Eles is not require much movement and can tank mobs all day long? If that is the case, you are deadly wrong. You can try to lv an Eles in PVE environment to confirm Eles surviability. If not, please simply ignore my post.

no dude, i postet this some time ago.
to play an ele, which does good damage too, u need to do a lot.
u need to know 20 weapon skills and u need to use them on point too, if u want to make a difference. u need to PLACE ur mobility and skills. for firewall u need to aim and for good damage u need to know the range. u need to deselect ur target if u need to escape with ride the bla. u are vulnerable to attacks while riding it.
against good players its difficult to use our rotation because u need a lot of skills to defend urself. i personaly dont use mistform so dunno. but a lot of mates are happy if an ele uses mistform. its mostly their last resort. i think d/d ele is a bliss and if some people grind it fulltank to oblivion its their choice its defnetly not my playstyle. but u dont have to fear those because their damage is quite managabel for every solid build.

…well my point was… just replace “skill” for effort.

Tips for defeating DD Ele

so … in essence you need some skill to fight an ele. good to know.

you need to have an idea about what the other class is capable of by talking about it, trying it yourself or watch what its doing. you need to know your own class in a wider frame then the first 5 secs of a fight. you need to know about general features of the games like dodging and and combofields.

and you need to actualy think about what you should do next instead of mindlessly spamming a rotation. the one who plans ahead more and makes less mistakes wins, i dont see the problem.

the d/d ele puts me into a position to do exactly what i like and what was advertised about pvp and gw2. i can be in the mix for quite a time and fight epic battles. all i heard about gw2 and its pvp was about good long fair fights. i dont use mistform, my only escape is the zap which has to be placed carefully. every class has escape mechanisms as far as zap goes its a lil better then most leaps as far as range goes but thats it. the cantrips are needed to place important skills while staying alive and make them actualy hit. in addition i wouldn´t put enough pressure on nearly everything but absolute glasscannons without the mightstacks provided mostly by the cantrips.

i can switch to staff in certain situations which makes it a very nice build for pve/wvw.

its a good build and even more powerfull in wvw then in spvp. but my question is, is it realy wrong to be able to be able to counter 1 maybe 2 bursthiefs who drop dead after i was able to barley keep alive using most defense skills at the right time and spamming some aoe simply to stay alive? i think they should have thought about their survivalskills (in their makro maybe:D) and stats, instead of assuming that everthing just has to drop dead instantly.
another question would be if its realy better to let a capture point beeing aoed to death with no1 able to approach. i have a certain amount of conditionremoval which just happens to help the first 5 seks or so if there are some condition spammers. the problem is they have no plan b mostly. every class has multiple stunbreaks and condition removers but they hurt ur dps – too bad.

ele cantrip builts is one of the few selfsustaining solutions. its the pure essence of the philosphy of a nondedicated classes system imho. of course this should count for every class if the player whishes to choose so.

melee should be exactly as rewarding as it is for the d/d ele. and btw. we have position us for everyskill even aoe if we want a followup aura f.e.

i think thats a litle different from letting the system position u behind or at the enemy by simply pressing 1 button. this goes not only for thiefs.

i got the handle on 4 of the 8 classes by now and i can tell u playing mostly responsive in pvp(because i like it) can be quite frustrating whith other classes. i understand the concept of the advantage of first initiative but i dont think u can realy learn whats going on without beeing able to counter attacks and watch the enemy.

anyways hf.
im not scared about any nerfs because in the end i still got a slot free for a thief^^.
